Hi,

I’ve fallen on hard times and thinking of selling my Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Chronometer / Caliber 3313. It just went through a complete maintenance service on 12/28, so has 2 years of warranty.

Looking for suggestions on a reasonable price I should list it for. Thank you for your help. View attachment 1530178

Check eBay’s sold listings for past sales of the same reference. Those should give you an appropriate range.

Sorry to hear that you need to sell.

eBay and Chrono24 should be your best bets for approximate sales value. Selling to trade you’d get less value but also faster and usually with no hassle.

I would advise removing the photos showing the serial number on the watch.

The whole “obscure/don’t show the serial number” paranoia is really overblown IMO. Many of the watch sale listings on eBay, C24 and even right here on the OF private watch sales forum have photos showing the serial number in plain view. I’ve yet to hear of anyone who ran into any serious difficulty because they revealed a serial number on a sales listing.

Are they the same people who blank the number plates in car/bike pics?
And then drive to the store where everyone on the road and in the carpark can see it.

My Queen destroys our name and address off of junk mail.
My mentioning that this info is online and in the phone book (for those of you that know what that is) hasn't slowed her down.

Sorry to hear about the hard times, Sulima, they won't last.

Each to their own of course - personal experience is by definition simply anecdotal

This issue has been discussed ad infinitum on watch forums for decades. To date, there is endless speculation about possible negative consequences, but not a single first-hand report directly related to showing a serial number online. One can't prove a negative, but at some point the absence of any direct reports speaks pretty loudly.

Do what you want in your own listings, but continuing to advise others to cover the serial number basically amounts to perpetuating a conspiracy theory.

I had my fingers surgically removed for this very reason... leave no trace.
