Longines ref. 5056 delivered to Baume & Co. in 1947. I always loved this dial variant with the brushed ring and the Roman numerals. So happy I finally found one

beautiful, congrats, is it the one from Cars and Watches?

Thanks Syrte! 馃榾
No it's from an IG contact of mine, it wasn't on the open market... He found it on the flea market ::psy:: roughly two years ago. Initially it was from an UK household sale. Not working, might have been in a drawer for decades. He had it serviced in the meantime, enjoyed it for a while and luckily he finally told me that he might consider selling... 馃榾

Written by one of the top hype-masters in Great Britain.

Nice write-up, but beware the source.

Dont want to hijack the thread, but the writing "style" alone took me to defcon 3. I've posted elsewhere about how even some provincial French dealer started quoting some of that stuff - it's superficially seductive, sure. But I really wish so much of it hadn't just popped up here. I notice some OFers claim to have been burned by this guy (Magnus?), so he's not just to beware, but actively avoid in every way.

Those leaf hands are simply stunning, so the whole watch is a stunner!

Still waiting to get this redone by Archer, mid-late 40's sei-tacche bought new by my grandfather and worn/tortured by me as a teen in the 70's, 33mm I believe (don't have it in front of me). Missing second hand is actually stuck between dial & case @ 3:00. Appears to have been relumed but that would have been while my grandfather had it. Movement runs.

If you find out where it was originally invoiced, I would be curious to know. My guess is either Italy or somewhere "exotic".

Argentina. Those sei tacche are a month apart: June and July 1943.

@Rumar89 Thanks for the update! Argentina makes sense. Both central and south America seemed to have a penchant for striking designs.
