That's not correct to my knowledge. I know that Rolex has practically eliminated parts accounts for independent watchmakers, but I’m not aware that Omega has done the same. Am I mistaken? Archer?

Not true. Omega cut off all 3rd party resellers of parts in 2015. So places like Otto Frei, Cousins, etc. who aren’t watchmakers, but parts suppliers.

Omega uses a selective spare parts distribution model. It eliminates the middle man, and parts are ordered directly from Omega/Swatch group by watchmakers who have gone through the approval process.

Any watchmaker who meets the requirements for education, experience, has a modern shop with the proper equipment, and is willing to attend training at Swatch can get an account, provided the level of work they do meets the standards that Omega requires.

Cheers, Al

Well, precision is a good thing for both archery and watchmaking...

My local Rolex guy said his shop looked into Omega but they were busy enough without it. Of course I was disappointed, but that's their decision.

Which brings me to a question: which watchmakers are better, Omega or Rolex?

Well, Omega service screwed up three times with watches of mine, and this CW21 never has.

But "anecdote" is not a synonym of "data".

Watchmakers are watchmakers....what brand you work on has nothing to do with your skill level. Most watchmakers work on all kinds of different brands.

Okay, so that satirical remark fell completely flat...

Rolex, clearly. Unfortunately, there’s a five year waiting list to get any work done because Rolex limits the supply of watchmakers. 🙄

Nah.. they all hide a qualified watchmaker under the counter, but it’s only for their regular customers.

I know you're making a joke but they treat me very well.
