Hi
An easy thread before weekend.
Let's see the old one, the new one, all the Hippocampus that you have on your beautifull watches.

Which raises a question: do they get worn by friction against the skin; bracelet abrasion; or by routine polishing during a service?

Always liked the little guy.

I kinda knew about the origin but looked it up anyway. Hippocampus comes from both Phoenician and Greek mythology, and are said to have served the God of seas, earthquakes and horses – none other than Poseidon. They would draw his chariot, or he was often seen riding one. Hence why they are commonly referred to as Poseidons horses. The name hippocampus comes from the Greek ‘hippos’ which means horse and ‘kampos’ which means sea monster.

And I believe it was inspired to be used by Omega by decorative cavalli (horses) on gondolas in Venice. Hence the release of the recent special edition Omega there.

Thanks for the history details, very cool. Wished I was aware 4 weeks ago when in Venice.

How dare you, sir!!! 😲

Here's the one from my dearly departed Seamaster Sparkle, which was in lovely shape for it's age - never mind the scratches on the rest of the caseback 😀

Hmmmm.....I think the potential downsides of testing this theory (including possible lengthy jailtime) far outweigh the potential benefits 🤪

You have jumped to some interesting conclusions: 1) All virgins are underage. 2) That having the virgin touch the watch is a punishable offense...versus you touching her.
