Meccano was British and more likely among us colonials I presume. Erector sets would be American?
You know on one hand I loved Meccano and it was everywhere in Australia when I was a kid but damn if it didn’t give you more serious injuries, I remember building sets and ending up with bloody fingers from the sharp nuts and burred plates. Then there was always some nut that was loose in a bad area that you had to tear other stuff apart to reach.

Sounds like any given day when I was an auto mechanic.

Sounds like any given day with the people where I work. ::rimshot::

Visited some friends yesterday. Their youngest is in a Lego club it turns out. I showed him some of the pictures from this thread and he was well impressed. I have promised to send him a finished picture for the ship.
The kids are all computer games mad, but also got a simple slot car race set for Xmas. I had a great Scalextrix set as a kid so we set it up. The kids loved it / nice to see them playing some real world games as well. We got a good pace going so my action shot is a bit of a blur (like real F1 :0)

Erector sets, Lego’s, and K’nex were what I enjoyed. I had a blast building things with my dad. But my favorite was all the time he and I spent on our Scalextrix sets. Oh the wonderful memories

7 bags to go and the bow will be done. Taking my time and making sure all pieces line up nice. Don’t want to rush and have nothing to do all of a sudden.

Holy crap, it has decks!

just where the sections go together. Not throughout the length but still a nice detail. The engines turn the propellers as well but that’s a long way off.

So, when it's completed, are you going to sink it your bathtub?

For the correct scale you’d need at least a pond or lake. Then you could even dive on the wreck. 🤪🤦

Based on the hull 'gash' in that picture I assume you are going for an extreme level of realism... so we can guess what is on your birthday list :0)

On a serious note it is a cracking model.

Bow is complete. I have to say, I’ve always liked Lego but building this takes me back when building plastic tanks and planes by Tamiya was something to look forward to. This kit is well worth the money. My only complaint is the flags.
A wraparound decal would have looked better

@CaptainWinsor ..... Did you mention tanks? model metal ones are also fun but 7 or 8 years on mine is still in the garage. You are making much better progress.
As an aside I think the investment companies are watching our threads / I saw this in a money magazine this week.
We will be hit by ‘my late grandfather left me a Lego set’ posts next ;0)
