Hi all,

I’ve found this Constellation on eBay, and I know it’s in pretty rough shape but I was just wondering about the dial and bracelet. I haven’t been able to find this dial on any other Constellation. Also the bracelet, is it swapped from another ref ?

Appreciate any and all feedback !

When the condition is that bad I’m not sure it matters.

I appreciate the feedback.

Would it still be bad purchase if I could get it in the $200 range ? The seller currently has it listed for $399 and I’m sure I could talk them into going lower.

Still a waste of money even at $200. What do you expect to be able to do with it in this condition?

I wouldn’t pay 200 for it.

The problem with cheap watches is that they cost the same as nice watches to service and restore. So when it comes time for a service (and that may already be due) or a restoration, you’re going to spend multiples of its value just to get it running well.
It’s almost always better to save longer and just buy a nice example to start with.

I would have to completely restore the watch, as it is enticing to be able to get this reference for $200, but as @Davidt said, the better financial decision would be to just save $$ and wait for a better watch to come along.

Thanks again.

Yeah, that’s true. If the watch was in at least fair condition it would’ve been cool to snag, just thought I’d run it by this forum to see what yall had to say.

Thanks again.

Is this watch from Argentina? There has been a rash of grave robberies in some South American countries over the last several years.

I’ve seen a few on eBay that look just like this one from Argentina…prolonged moisture damaged, looks like they lived in a box underground for the last 20 years….hmmmm

If you had another one of these in good condition, it might be worth buying at $50 for some spare parts.
