Leather Strap suggestions (for a 166.010)

Hi Everyone, About a year ago, several of you helped me in my search for and purchase of a Seamaster 166.010. I love the watch, but have been thinking about switching out the bracelet for a nice leather strap.

I'd love any suggestions or recommendations you may have.

I'm thinking something brown or golden brown or taupe--but open to other ideas.

I need to add that I have a pretty slim wrist (~6.25"), so may need to go with a shorter strap.

Thank you! (And here is a pic of the watch)

Check out Accurate Form.

They make nice leather straps that are well-suited for vintage watches. I would be tempted to try a light tan strap for a more casual look. Regardless of color, I would look for a flat strap that's somewhat thin (no padding).

I generally wear mine on smart, dressy occasions, and prefer a simple black leather strap…..

Hi Ryan--thank you for the link and the suggestions. I like the idea of a tan strap. I've just started looking through the shop you linked me to.

Hi Spruce--that looks excellent! Can you share where you found your strap?

Oddly enough Omega boutiques sell great leather straps in 18mm that would fit perfectly and they even come with an Omega buckle. (All though a modern buckle)

It was eBay, probably about £12. If you have a nice watch, the only one looking at the strap is you 😉

Personally I think the 166.010 belongs on its beads of rice bracelet. It just complements the whole look of the watch much better than any strap can.

That said, if you want a strap I’d go with black calf or alligator.

Thanks, Standy: I just took a look online: the straps are beautiful--but a bit more than I want to spend! 😀

I'm a big fan of Tuns Leather on Etsy. I also have a 6.25" wrist and the small size (95/80 mm) with Omega style deployment clasp fits perfect.

Wow--thanks for the link to Tuns: lots of nice pieces, with lots of different choice for length. The strap with deployant clasp looks beautiful!

Haha! Now you have me second guessing myself! I do like the BOR bracelet a lot: on my slim wrist, though, it's just a bit long on the 6 o'clock side (and no more removable links)--so the watch head seems to drift over the top of my wrist (12 o'clock side) a bit more than I'd like.

(I should add that on my BOR bracelet, the pin in one of the clasp pivots seems to slip out just a bit--leaving me a little less confident wearing it: I don't want the bracelet to come undone and have the watch hit the deck.)

I'm always chopping and changing but I just think a strap can be a bit dressier with a suit, which is why, at present, it’s on one ….. but I take your point about a BoR 😀

No reason not to have both options and switch back and forth as desired. Watchmaker can probably adjust the bracelet to prevent a problem.

Yes! good point! I've looked at a few straps on the Tuns Etsy site: I like that they have a "small-medium" length.

I just tried talking to one of my local Omega ADs about whether their watchmaker might be able to look at my BOR bracelet--but the person I talked to didn't think they could do anything(!).

Are people here aware of a good watchmaker in the Charlottesville, VA, area?

Thanks!
