Hi All,

My 1st post here, hello!

As per the photo below, it can look pretty nice!

Has anyone tried it? I have not exhaustively looked at Omega's website, but I couldn't find a matching strap for my watch. It a mid sized version of the 2541.80.00 - The 1st Sea Master worn by Mr Brosnan in his run as 007.

If not omega, has anyone found a good brand that has a nice 'in keeping' fit?
I'd plum for a classic shiny black colour, with the same rounded contours and stitching as the below picture.

Hope you an help
Best Wishes

Any generic padded calf leather strap with contrast stitching will work fine. Just measure the lug spacing and buy the correct width strap. You can buy shiny/gloss if you want, but personally I think matte (like in that photo) would look better.

There are many threads on the forum with recommendations for fancy strap makers, but there's no reason to overpay for something simple like this. You can just buy something decent (like Hadley Roma) on Amazon and it will be fine.

Hi Dan

That's really helpful, thanks!

I had a look at the bezel again - Yes, matte would be the way to go.

Best wishes

You do you, but it’s a dive watch so leather isn’t a natural choice. You don’t usually want to get a leather strap wet.
Even though I don't get my vintage dive watches wet, I agree that I feel funny wearing them on leather straps, with the possible exception of stingray which is just too much fun to pass up.

I suspect the strap in the picture you posted, @Marty_Marty, is the now discontinued rubber strap. It looked great on my Seamaster, but unfortunately Omega stopped producing them.

I tried a leather strap on the same Seamaster recently, but it looked awful. I don't recommend it.

I’ve never found a leather combination I was really happy with, but I did love this simple beige Perlon on my midsize 2551.80:

Have a laugh and read this thread:
https://omegaforums.net/threads/a-pretentious-snobby-old-fashioned-guide-to-choosing-a-strap.154166/
Start at the beginning for the OP’s “rules” lol

That thread is hillarious

I was reading it late last night, thinking - ...'bizarre and funny.... Gods I've got to stop reading a go to sleep!'

That didn't occur to me at all!

Also, when I read it in the other thread - that point about 'stating to the world that you don't dive but only have the watch for show'

My attitude?

The Sea Master also looks good with the right strap - Glad others have taken the jump as well, to find their own look and comfort levels.

I've a problem with my ear now - so I can't swim anymore - bummer. However, that doesn't mean I can't start wearing my sea master again, in more comfort, which I think was the reason why I made my Apple Watch my sole watch these last 5 years or so, without wearing the Sea Master at all, even as a dress watch.

Shame the watch didn't come with a micro adjuster, else I might have stuck it out with the original bracelet. Coming back to the watch after 5 years, the bracelet is too loose on me now. I use to do motobiking and gym as well etc. so I suppose my forearms and wrists were more pumped up back then. I have skinny wrists, so no slack to tighten the bracelet onto, to deal with when the wrist is thicker / thinner throughout the day. I hate it when the watch slips all the way down a times throughout the day, especially when I'm doing something dexterous!

Apologies - wittering on! 😀

Best wishes

2254 on a Hirsch guttaperka strap, its a bit leather like and a bit more formal than rubber.

Hi Keith,

RE: Black Strap
Thats the look I was going for! It is even better than I hoped it could look.
You have a winner there in my opinion!
Really glad you one of the straps before they discontinued it.

I'm going to have some fun looking for a look-a-like strap in this style.

Sorry, lots of interested questions:
How does it wear?
Does the Rubber 'Give' and 'Mold' with time for you, or is it pretty solid stuff?
Is it noticeably more sweaty than Leather for all day wearing?
How did you come by it - 2020 Tokyo Olympics advertising?

RE: Brown Strap

Missus said that colour would not go with me and my black hair etc. (I'm Growing grey mind!)
No questions on this one!

Thanks for sharing

Hi All,

Loads of different styles going here - Thanks for the inspirational photos guys!

I've bought a cheapie off Amazon, and will try a strap 1st on the sea master, to see if it actually works for me.

If it does work - I think I'll start hunting down that Tokyo rubber style strap, in black, for a 18mm lug spacing

Best wishes all

It was very comfortable, but not particularly durable. Those older style rubber straps were padded with cardboard and not meant for actual use in the water.

Here is an old WUS thread where someone used one of these straps to go snorkeling and it started rotting: https://www.watchuseek.com/threads/omega-rubber-deployant-strap-a-cautionary-tale.527557/

Mine only lasted for a few years.

Hi Keith,

Thats a shame the strap fell to pieces so quickly - Comfy AND good looking!?!

Where you swimming with it? Or was it just cheap rubber breaking at the buckle etc?

Thanks for all the info - Fore warned is always good.

Regards
Martin

PS:
Gosh, I gave that thread you sent me a read - Shocking! I stopped at page 2!
That's probably why those particular straps have been discontinued!

Mine lives on a gloss navy leather nato/zulu with four chrome rings; there'll be a photo in here any time soon.

Hi Mr W,

Sigh, my 1st choice strap has big question marks over it.... the quest goes on for another strap / another style.

I kinda like your strap there.

Is the strap straight through, all one piece and goes under the watch?

How does it wear for you?
Does the watch happily sit proud with no wobbles?
Or do the 4 lug arms of the casing dig into your wrist if tightened too much?

Interesting concept!

Martin
