Incredible watch! Enjoy it -- and keep your eyes on the road when you're Seamastering along in that GTI. 😀

Just found this and had to buy it.
Amazing condition for the year.
All original as far as I can see, down to the naiad flat foot crown and “narrow omega” stamped crystal.
Comments welcome.

Wowza, that is beautiful!

I’ve added a couple of dial closeup’s, to show the gilt script and lumed 12.
For me this confirms that the gilt script on early SM300’s (and others) is factory and not due to age/degradation. I always leaned towards this theory but (for me anyway), I am now 100% convinced.

Is the meaning here "gilt" as in "black galvanic dial" or as in "gold-coloured text"?

Not completely sure, it’s back in the case.
I’d say gold script.

Kinda appears like white script but a gorgeous dial with an excellent 300.

I too don’t see anything gilt about it but it’s the nicest SM300 I’ve seen in a long while.

I think @watchlovr is referring to the Seamaster 300 script, which appears to be slightly gilt in appearance, at least compared to the script at the top of the dial. No?

Agreed. It doesn't seem to be gilt in the usual meaning of gilt dials.
