Thanks to @dsio for the hunt as usual. I tipped by subbing to the forums for a year. Seemed appropriate and relatively cheap based on what I've learned here in a short period of time.

This lovely little number just got here today. A box, in a box, in a box, so to speak. I really did these old boxes and though I have another DeVille, the crazy scientific-esque second track really threw me to the wolves. And with intact lume plots -- I had to have it. I bid to max of $1,069 (nice) glad it was only $693 after shipping and tax, but I'd be happy either way.

Box, watch holder, instruction pamphlet, and what I assume is a cleaning cloth.

Reference: you tell me
Movement: unknown, front loader

Quick set works great and date flips at midnight.

Thanks again!

14K GF case would indicate US production with reference KM 6292/LL 6287, these often had dual references, caliber 563. Going form memory on this, which hasn't always been the best as of late. 🙄

Always cool to see these with all their "stuff" still with them.

I like stuff!

Yes I saw this could be a 565 as well?

565 would not be found in an American cased watch.

Looks quite sharp, these dials are among my favourites with the sub second markings. The brown lizard looks ok on it but something else might kick it up a notch, maybe a blue strap or something with a bit more colour

I have a 10k GF mesh but I was going to put that on another de ville. Have to see what other 18mm I have, that was the limiting factor. Thanks for the idea though!

Beautiful watch. I love to see one with crisp straight lugs!

Spiffy. I’m one of (I think the minority of) collectors/enthusiasts who like personalized engravings on the caseback. The added context makes the watch special. Not all value makes a monetary difference.

Mate I really don’t mind engravings if they’re done well with quality engraving. I have skipped watches that have had the telltale signs of a deep polish to remove engraving before though and skipped a couple that look like the owners DIYed the engraving with a Dremel or something such that the writing resembled a prison tattoo.

Very cool. I once bought a slightly similar one on a raggedy leather bracelet from a local pawn shop for $60. When I asked to see it, she told me it wasn’t running and needed a battery change. I got it for $50.

I walked outside, wound it up, then checked for the 14k marking hidden on the lug behind the bracelet…it was there.

It’s kind of a long story, but if I’m ever confronted by a man with his name shakily tattooed on his neck in Japanese katakana, I will be able to drop the name of the particular Alabama state correctional facility where he had it done, which I imagine will either make us fast friends or get me murdered. It’s not a great plan, but it is a plan.

That’s certainly the “get murdered” option.

I have yet to come across the thrift store owner who doesn't know a dead automatic from a dead battery but I'm hopeful! I already found a great Poljot in a $7 bag of watches recently. So that's like half way there. lol

Great find and I'm glad I know the things to look for now thanks to this crew.

StrapsCo cart has a trio of croc pattern leather straps in green, blue, and grey ready to roll so we can see some pop! Thanks for the ideas.

Especially when it says “automatic” on the dial!

Here you go, first on a green suede band I got with a 2169 I bought from seekingseaquest.

And then the first of 3 color popping straps.

The suede does it for me. I’m close to getting a strap in this green lizard …
