A few more adverts. Also notice the bracelet.
Curious, anyone have an advert showing
the 166.024 on anything but the 1116/1098 with 575 ends?

Very nice example 😀

I am however wondering how the color difference between the hands and dial can be explained?
Dial and hands is not lumed together. They may not even come from the same factory.
Over the years the color, even if perfectly matched when new, will age differently.

Yes, here's an 166.024 ad from Denmark... on the "normal" 1039 type bracelet.
All in all Omega did a lot of "minor" changes to the SM300 over the years and especially in the late 60'ies. On the 166.024 we see different bracelets, different bezels, different dials (BT vs. ST), black vs. white date disc, different movements 563 vs 565 etc etc.
I think that these differences was simply a resultat of different production batches/suppliers in the last 2 years of the SM300 production... or simply some design changes to meet regional market needs.

Thanks and the others as well!

Did not know this and thought they should always match perfectly.. This makes collecting vintage watches even harder 😉

What a lovely BT, looks like I could (not for the first time), be wrong about the cyclops crystal.
Is the bubble inside or outside?
FYI my "mismatched" BT SM300 looks matched in some light, but you really notice in natural light.

What a stunning exemple, the condition of the bezel is pretty unique. Colour difference in lume seems fine to me.

When I received the watch, it was dirty and the glass had a lot of scratches.

The dial is very nice, never relumed.

After restoration :

It looks great and so natural after restauration, my best congrats for the work done! (and for the watch).
The bezel and the bracelet are great, too 😉

About the bracelets, did anyone notice that when the bracelet is the old 1039, the crown is a Naïad crown.
All the 166.024 with screw down crown have 1116 bracelet.

About the OP watch, we can see that the hands have some mold which implies some moisture. So an explanation could be that as the hands are more exposed (because they sit higher near the glass and have both sides exposed) the colour change was caused by humidity.

Happy new year to you all.

I was referring to the ads, I didn’t know you bought one ‘69. 😀
