Just wanted to post some pics & video of quite unusual OMEGA, that I have recently purchased for a lady. It's and OMEGA Speedmaster 38 Co-Axial Chronometer 38mm ref. 324.23.38.50.02.001

At 38mm I think this is close to the top feminine range. I also reckon, that for some men this could be an acceptable size & colour combination, although OMEGA clearly sells it as a lady watch.

TO be very honest - this one was not for my lady, I have bought it for someone, who will hand it over to his better half tomorrow 😉, but since it's not a mainstream model I have decided to take a few photos & post it here - maybe will be helpful for some.

Here short wristshot video, where you will see my 18cm wrist and also two lady wrists - 16cm & 14,5cm (the last one is probably the smallest for this watch, or maybe even too small):

The Speedmaster 38 collection is still in production from Omega and a centerpiece of their marketing towards women, though I think most if not all of the colorways would look good on anyone. Hope recipient enjoys hers!

One of my gripes about Omega is that 38mm is considered a ladies size. I’m kind of an old guy, and back when I first started wearing watches 38mm would have been considered a very large men’s watch. Times and trends change, but my wrist is about 6.6 inch, maybe closer to 6.75 on a hot day outside, and 38.5 to 39 is kind of my target. I have a 37mm Seiko SNK that wears great as well.

I saw that the new Aqua Terra small seconds come in two sizes, I believe a 41 and a 38. As with most of these speedy 38’s, the AT 38’s are clearly very feminine watches that are marketed to ladies.

Interesting that they are finally admitting it more towards women. The ovals and the round date window really give them that feminine edge. (Save the one that has a square window and is targeted towards men)

when they announced these they really dug in that these where unisex. When quite obviously they where not.

Actually I don’t believe that Omega is “finally admitting” that these 38mm speedies other than the unique model with square date window are marketed to women. There’s nothing on their website that indicates that it’s a ladies model.

same with the new Aqua Terra small seconds. There’s nothing on the website that says that the 41 is the men’s and the 38 is the ladies, but it’s totally obvious that the 38 is designed with ladies in mind (circle date window, the colors and straps, the diamonds).

I generally don’t get too hung up on the men’s vs women’s distinction in watches. There are certain “ladies” watches that I would definitely wear. I would wear certain color ways of the 38mm oval-date speedy, including probably the watch in the OP. However I will say that most of the new 38 mm AT small seconds options are too overtly feminine for me and I wouldn’t wear them.

I also considered at some point to buy the black dial 38 mm Speedy but at the end I went for a second hand Reduced and I think it's better than this model. The value to the Reduced is getting up like crazy, in one year it took more between 600€ and 1.000€ of value.
