    Received this the other day. Looks better in person than stock pictures online. It wears larger than 38mm, I would say closer to 40, so I would recommend for people who think the Professional is too large.

    Some observations:
    The domed sapphire crystal has a parallax/magnification effect similar to hesalite. Chronograph pushers have a very nice beveled edge detail. The dial is a satin black, not sunburst like the marketing images show. I much prefer this so that’s a bonus. Subdials are countersunk and have a concentric circles finish. Outer edge of the tachymetre bezel has a polished finish with grooves for each measurement.

    First impressions are very good. Movement’s rotor is relatively quiet. Winding is very smooth. Very comfortable on the bracelet so far.

    Thanks! It doesn’t seem to be in the hands of many people yet as it was newly introduced a few weeks ago. I had been wanting a replacement for the speedy reduced for some time now, especially one with a real chronograph movement. I had a 3513.50 for a while, but sold it to get this.

    Nice. How's the visibility? Hands look similar to the Moonwatch, so I'd imagine pretty good. The last Speedy auto I had had silvered hands that disappeared at certain angles, so it had to go..

    Also, is it my imagination or does this one differ from all the other 38mm variations? They all seem to have "oval" subdials, but the ones here look round.

    On further further inspection, the date window is square with a black background while all the others are oval and white background. I wonder why Omega made the black version different? Whatever the reason, I like it. The ovals put me off this range, but now I might be changing my tune... :thumbsdown:

    I wish Omega would double the size of the date window, but that’s just me.

    The 38m Speedy is a great looking watch, but with my 7 3/4” wrists it’s just too small for me. 40mm is my minimum, and only for certain watches. I love how the 38 sits low and tight to the wrist.

    Nice. Didn't see it on the web site...could you provide the thickness and lug to lug length?

    @vincenz

    Could you please measure the lug to lug distance? Also how thick is the watch?

    Would you say the dial is inky black?

    I'm trying to find measurements for several Speedmasters under 40 mm, including this one. This link will take you to a few measurements of height I got from Omega, but not 6 to 12 lug to lug length. For that request to the OF members, I'm hoping to get help filling in that gap. Hopefully this link will be helpful to you.

    Re square date window.

    The black one is marketed to men. The others are more women’s watches and are more feminine with the oval date window and sub dials.

    Looks very nice, think I’ve seen one on chrono shop labelled as a SpeedMaster ‘57’.
