Oh, well done! It’s beautiful. I love the oculus, and envy you the little star on the dial! Mine doesn’t have that. Congratulations, and I hope your partner loves it!

Looks fantastic! A service and a clean and it will be a great piece.
I’m very happy with it. My research paid off!

now, with these automatic movements, do they need winding at the crown to get them going initially?

Generally yes. The rotor on the back will wind the watch but if it’s been sitting and power has run down then giving it a good wind is how you get it started. If you wear it often and move around a lot you shouldn’t have to manually wind it too often. I work at a desk most of the day so it’s not uncommon for my automatic watches to need a manual wind during the week.

You shouldn’t have to worry about “over winding” it, but you also shouldn’t need more than 20-30 rotations of the crown to go from stopped to plenty of power.

Well, I submitted a cheeky offer to the seller, and accepted his counter offer.
If you don’t mind me asking what did it end up costing you in the end? I want one of these for my wife (though she’ll probably wear it once a month) that she can than pass down to my daughter one day.

Yes, my experience is similar. It needed a good wind to begin, and if I’m reasonably active during the day it works just fine. If I’m too sedentary (like one day when I was in the car and then mass transit for most of the day) it has once or twice stopped early the next morning. I was a little worried about this, since I thought they are supposed to have power reserves—? But mine may need a servicing anyway.
Mine cost $500 btw.

I paid just under £300 for it, including shipping from Europe.

If starting from dead, I generally give it 1-2 winds instead of a shake. Normal movement is enough to keep it going through until the next morning
