路THIS is a bit of a 'save me from myself' post + offering up to OF first 馃榿 Thanks to a series of poor decisions I've made along the way, plus good/bad luck, I've managed to acquire too many parts cleaning machines. I'm going to keep my Varimatic, but pass on the Console and Varimatic 3:
Context if you care to read it:
But in summary:
Varimatic 3:
I have a Varimatic 3 that I picked up as a 'parts' machine. The 'varimatic' part of it works great, other than needing a synchronization I think. The head needs some repair to the commutator winding (I broke it replacing bearings :/), so that is probably a few hundred dollars (I'd guess $3-400 to have it rewound? though I doubt it needs a full rewind) to have a motor shop fix it. The ultrasonic 'base' is missing, and it is likely that the transducer is not really functional. So treat this as a naked Varimatic3, not a ultrasonic-version. It also could use a clean!
BUT: If you are in the area and able to put a few hundred dollars into repairing it, this would be great for you! Lets start negotiations on this one at $200.
Console:
THIS machine is awesome. I did a restoration (see the first thread above), which included making my own ultrasonic transducer and upgrading it to a modern driver board. Everything on this works great, except for the 'tank' output (which is kinda worthless?). This is a manual machine, but works great. I need it out of my garage, but I think this one is definitely worth my starting negotation at $500.
Accessories:
BOTH machines have the adapters to use the stock baskets. I DO have a pretty good selection of baskets I can include with these machines, as I'll likely put the ELMA clone on mine. I ONLY have 2 extra jars though. I believe I've found a Mcmaster listing for jars that would work with this, but don't hold me to it 馃榾
