Wait.

How are you trying to advance the date? You advance til the date changes and the back up to 9 and advance past 12. Repeat til correct.
OP indicated this was a push set. @MohTheory did you try the 9/12 set?

Not with this movement, although that may be an alternative method. You are supposed to push in the crown to advance the date.

This trick works past 8 but not 9, but regardless it should have a quick date function. Looks like I’ll get it serviced to fix this.

Saying that the watch was "overhauled" would definitely suggest that the watch was fully serviced in my mind. If it's not operating properly, and that wasn't disclosed by the seller, you would be totally justified in returning it.

Maybe this will be a simple fix, but it might end up being expensive with replacements parts needed. But once you start down this road, you are committed and will not be able to return it if you regret your decision.

Thanks, so you’re suggesting I return it? The crown seems to push in easily, just nothing happens with the date wheel. Wondering if it’s a simple fix or not... the seller has come back to me saying “The technition said, if only one draw option, that is not quickset movement”. Cleary they either know of the issue or are clueless of the actual movement which I doubt.

Typical prevaricating sales BS.
People who solve problems honestly don't say things like that. All the more reason to swallow the irritation & get it fixed yourself, IMO. Sometimes trying to get your money back is abigger rabbit hole than fixing a movt.

Only you can make that decision, knowing your circumstances & local laws & recourse.

I think that's a decision you need to make personally, since it depends on how good you feel the deal was, how risk-tolerant you are, and how much you love the watch.

I bought a watch recently (30's without modern shock protection)for a fair price that was stated as running in the listing, and the second hand moved in the pics- so it did show the seller wasn't deceptive. When it arrived it was DOA- balance staff broke in shipping. Seller was willing to take it back, but the cosmetic condition was so good, that the likelihood of finding another in the same shape was slim to none. I knew I could get the part easily and have it repaired so it was worth it to me.
You need to decide if it's worth doubling down or cutting your losses.

That watch is gorgeous so if it was me I would wear the heck out of it and simply have the quick set fixed at it's next service. I would just manually adjust the date for now. Yea the seller in theory should help you out since he sold it not needing service but the price was right and nice examples of vintage stuff aren't getting easier to find as the years tick by.

Thanks Everyone, I'm just going to bite the bullet and fix it when I get it serviced next. It's a learning experience and I love the watch! 😀
Appreciate all the help, what an awesome community!

It's hard to wrap one's head around, mine anyway, that a dial often is worth half the value of the watch. The case is most of the rest. You have a great dial & case, regardless of any mechanical problem.

it's beautiful. If it works without the set, I don't think it's absolutely necessary
