Just started looking for my birth year watch and would like your opinion on this.

Lol. I agree with some of that but living in a London Borough, I’ve got my 'Oyster 60+' travel card. Free anytime travel on busses, trains and trams. 😀

Oh, and for those youngsters yet to reach 60, when you do, there’ll be a surprise package coming through the post from the NHS that’ll give you something to do for three consecutive days!😕😲 🤦🤮😁

Yes nice one mate. Very handy that Oyster card. Save you a few bob.👍 I used to have the old 3 year mobility travel card when I was living in Wandsworth and Watham Forest. Very handy! Have to wait until we are 66 in Dorset.🙁

Oh... and I got one of those '60th birthday' NHS packages Steve.😟 I'm still trying to sort out an 'agreeable' sample for the poor, unfortunate, postman!😲

Not hung up on a Seamaster, I’d consider any vintage Omega '57 dress watch. Would prefer a thin, manual wind, no date model if they did one - still learning about the available models.

You are in luck because there are some excellent thin manual-winding no-date watches from 1957 using, for example, cal 267/268 movements, which are excellent. These would definitely meet your criteria.

Have a look here for vintage catalogues of Omega watches. Unfortunately there is no 1957 (but some '56 and '59 to give you an idea). The Omega dress watch of the day was the Constellation. Besides being dressy, they also used chronometer rate movements. The most desirable Connie is the "pie-pan" with its faceted dial. Connies are relatively thin for that year but the thin craze really started a few years later. I agree on the no-date version, much more aesthetic and no need to adjust the date if you are planning to wear it occasionally.

But for us 1953-ers, life is much better. Only some of the above and we're four years older than you hahahahaha. Backache takes a pill, stiffies takes a pill but at least the generous state pension hasn't moved........

You both forgot to mention friends suddenly dying off for no obvious reason and wondering whose turn it is next...
