Pull the crown out one notch and you can adjust the date. Pull it out two notches to adjust the time. Is that how it works on the 552 movement?

Only the 565 not the 552, which does not have a date function but otherwise yes, quick and easy. No forward/backward turning between 10pm - midnight.

Ahh yes of course, 552 has no date, which is why I'm interested in it! 馃槈

I really enjoy my Seamaster Reference 165.002 with the rarer military dial. I just sold her big sister (with a BOR bracelet) this week to make room for an incoming purchase. And your absolutely right @mangozac, no date and automatic - no worries.

The 563, 564, and 565 quick advance the date in the 3rd position. Position 1 is winding, 2 is time setting, and 3 is quick set date.

You cycle between 2 and 3 to advance the date more than once. But keep in mind that you don鈥檛 want to do this when the date mechanism is already engaged, so avoid this from around 9 pm to about 3 am.

Cheers, Al

I'm a fan of the 165.003. I know I've already said it recently but it bears repeating: to my mind this is the pinnacle of tastefully understated dress Seamaster design and one of the best watches they ever made. The case looks fairly simple from face on.

The design subtleties of the lugs and the case profile only become apparent from side on. Much as I like the Seamaster de Ville line, the higher quality of the 165.003 is immediately evident once you handle the two side by side. You are wearing something, not to show it off but for its intrinsic quality. It's like a Turnbull and Asser shirt - most people won't notice the difference, but you will when you're wearing it.

I may be wrong, but from photos is seems that the lugs on the 165.003 have a chunkier side profile compared to the 002? To me this isn't as nice.
