Here's an instance where I would endorse polishing a watch. Done properly it would look way better than it does now and would actually add to the value.

Are you suggesting just the Caseback being polished, correct?

I only have one quick set and it does really help with the fingers. When I mentioned the quick set here someone replied it is prone to having issues. I have no idea how common it is I only bring it up as I recall someone saying it. I should not no problem with mine

Haven’t had issues so far. I’m prone to letting some watches sit a month or so before I wear them again. It’s silly but I check the weather to determine whether I’m going to wear vintage or newer and for strap versus bracelet. High summer around here pretty much demands a modern beater on a bracelet or NATO so you can wash it.

I don’t rely on the date feature so there are days I just make sure it’s wound for AM or PM and the correct time and roll with it.

It's like someone tried to remove what is engrave regarding all the scratch in the back.

Good point. Why would someone treat a good looking watch like this? Is someone trying to hide/disguise some information that would identify it?

Where was it bought from and How much?

Sorry if I am out of order, no slight intended, perhaps I am just a suspicious person.

I can't tell you the number of watches I've encountered over the years that someone has tried to "improve", only to totally fυck them up. 😵‍💫

I agree with Norman, having the back polished smooth would make a world of difference (obviously being conscious of the bevel). You could even do polished around the angled part and do a linear brush on the flat engraved part they way Rolex does with their backs if you want a little texture- I figure anything is an improvement.

The problem arises if you try to change the date within half an hour or so of midnight. There's a lever or something that gets either displaced or broken. I did it with my 565 but I was lucky, it was only displaced and my watchmaker fixed it straight away. I'm very careful now!
