Postman dropped of this afternoon... my first Omega and very happy with the condition of this ebay purchase.

Not a big fan of larger watches, so this fits my 6.5 wrist, wouldn’t want to go any smaller. Surprised how heavy it is. Plan is to go with a leather strap for my official dress watch.

The ebay pic had a very small mark above the 56 minute marker and I’m happy to say it was there ...visible only through magnification. So the seller sent the actual item. paid $928 for the watch which I think is reasonable

Judging just from the one pic and the apparent overall condition; I’d say you did just fine price wise; not an extreme bargain but certainly on the low side of reasonable for most of these I’ve seen lately in legitimate condition.

The size is growing on me Kip, at first I thought it might be to small, but seems ok.. seen a vid with a black bezel insert and loved it...and I think that makes it look bigger, I might consider an after market insert?

I was always partial to the midsize variations myself; my first Omega was actually a 2561.80 I still hold much affection for. The black dial insert is a consideration, aesthetically, certainly for the contrast against the brighter stainless bezel on the 2562, though I’d personally probably leave as is.

In any case if you ever decide this one just isn’t for you be sure to let me know! 😉

No, there is a little bit of variance depending on the specific model in many cases. I’m not an expert by any means, but there have been several within a mm or so of each other over the years. As a general range I’d say it’s possible to find anywhere from 36 to 39.5 before you go over 40, really.

I am not sure this is true within the SMP model family at least. In fact I am sure it isn't. The mid size SMP has always been circa 36.5mm and the full size prior the very latest model 41mm. The mid size is now discontinued. The depth has varied over the years, it has got steadily thicker but there has been no 38 or 39mm SMP model, unlike the Aqua Terra/Railmaster where intermediate (and larger) models were made.

My apologies for the lack of clarification; I was including the AT and RM models in my general thinking. For strictly SMP I’m pretty sure you’re spot on.

Thanks guys... Kip, do you have a pic of your collection somewhere on this forum? Assuming you have a variety of midsize?

Congrats
I too have the same watch in addition to two other 36mmm SMPs. I found that putting a leather band gives it a larger look. I think the lack of shine from the bracelet focuses your attention on the dial/bezel. I personally went with a dark blue croc band with white stitching. The blue closely matched the dial color.
I have a 2262.50 that looks larger but is the same size.
I have yet post photos but will try to learn.
Enjoy it

Unfortunately I too fell victim to the 40mm+ craze for a while; my one current mid is the old beloved 2561.80

At the time I didn't take the hobby as seriously as I do now, just knew I loved (and still love) Omegas, but so no pic of the 5(?) that have come and gone over the years. Mids, I finally realized, do simply fit me better, and now I'm gravitating back into the 34-40mm range depending on brand and design. Every now and then a 41 will catch my eye, but that's about as big as I go these days. Gotten much more into vintage lately, so the sizing matches up with current pursuits as well 😁

Continue enjoying that new addition of yours and I practically guarantee the size will grow on you....only some pun intended. 😎

Ye Kip, Breitling makes some monsters also, don’t see the need for anything over 40, are you guys aware of this 38mm...

Thanks, FYI my wrist averages 6 5/8.
Talking of larger watches, I wear a Speedmaster Pro 42mmm comfortably. IMO the busy dial makes a huge difference. If it was a three hand dial it would look like I was wearing a vintage night stand Baby Ben.

So busy dial huh? Unlike the midsize and reduced Omega’s, the Breitling Heritage 2 in midsize doesn’t come cheaper.

Sorry for the bump but I stumbled upon this topic and saw the prices listed.

Were these really at 700-900 usd last year? Looking online most are at 1500-1800 euro/1750-2100 usd. 900 usd is a steal.

Seems like US prices are different than Europe.
