If they are then are they any good?

I have a pair of John White Impregnable shoes, picked up years ago while in the UK. They're quite nice and well made. I have a notion that John White went defunct or was bought out and was resurrected and that quality suffered during the change.

I would enjoy a pair of the older Impregnable boots like these seen on their web site. I'm not sure what their selling these days is the same as the older Impregnables. Advertising doesn't refer to this model as the Impregnable.

My understanding is that John White shoes of recent manufacture are not high quality. For a similar boot from a quality English maker, you might want to consider the Tricker's Stow, although I don't know if pebble grain is available. If you're not attached to a UK maker, there are a lot of options at many price points.

I’m not sure about John Whites current quality
Lots of other options around and relatively inexpensive if you look to second hand
4 of my last 6 pairs I bought lightly used and they each cost me well less than $100aud a pair- all retailing for between $400 and $600 AUD new - from Loakes, Grenson, Junkard and Winson- all of whom produce excellent quality Goodyear welted (or norvegese or stormwelted or…) all resoleable, high quality boots which should last a lifetime…
I have also recently ordered a couple of pairs of Santalum MTO boots, will be interesting to see how they turn out

I sometimes see John White boots on the shelves of TK Maxx. They aren't the quality that they used to be. I would avoid. I can recommend Herring Shoes as a good website for various brands of Northamptonshire shoes and boots.

Trickers on the used market can be a steal. I bought a pair of tan brogues that were very lightly used about 10 years ago for $200 (soles barely scuffed up, insoles were fresh and not even discolored yet). They were just a hair small for me so I sold them to my boss for what I paid. He has worn those shoes around the world, resoled them twice and they still have held up beautifully.
