Would the case not need a specialist in laser welding?

You should be very happy that this happened. If that small amount of applied force could break off the lug there is no telling when it would eventually have happened anyway. Perhaps while catching the strap on a door handle 4 feet over a marble floor?

Yeah that’s true, or just lost it completely I guess.
I’m wondering if it was a previous repair. I noticed there is a nato strap mark on the back of the case and that seems a strange strap choice, well it is unless you had repaired the lug and were worried about it coming off again

Ouch! Sorry about that.
But, I'm sure it can be fixed. Afterall - it is put on there from the beginning - I'm sure it can be done again.

Thanks for all the help and advice.
And helping me not feel too bad about my error.
I’m based in the U.K. and would ideally like to find an option here.
I will report back once I decide what to do.
Thanks again

Something tells me that lug was re-soldered improperly before. @ConElPueblo is correct.

Peter Wuischpard can definitely handle the repair:

He's in the US, but claims to have customers in the UK. Probably knows how to deal properly with customs issues.

Good luck with repair.

Another option is JLC restoration services. They won’t be cheap but they have a good reputation. For this classic piece, it might be just the ticket.

Have you had a look at the movement? It's condition and lack of crown may influence how much money you want to drop on this project. No idea what you paid for it but your final tally will not be low when lug repair and movement restoration is figured in.
