Jaeger LeCoultre have such beautiful finish! When I go to a local store that has high end watches (Lange, Journe, JLC, Piaget, Audermars Piguet, etc.) the JLC stand out for me because they 1) dressier, 2) nicer dial finish.

Also understated and well designed. I have had the same reaction.

Congratulations!!~~ I enjoyed reading about your decision. Thank you you for taking us along this journey, and sharing your photos.

Curious what the date change operation is like on the Master Control? Does it flip instantaneously around midnight, like Rolex movements? Or gradually change over the course of an hour, like Omega movements?

Several years ago, I'd contemplated adding either a Memovox or a Master Control Date. I much preferred the proportions on the date. Lol, ended up with a Reverso Duo though, and have not added another JLC since then. In all the years since though, my head continues to be turned by the Master Control range!

The Master Control series are truly seductive. I went looking for a Reverso...found exactly what I was looking for. And a week later I saw my first Master Control in 18 pink gold. New, it was beyond my mad money. But within a week I found a 5 or 6 year old one (very little difference) and grabbed it at a tremendous savings. I love Rolex and their movements, and the classic 36mm size. I couldn't imagine going for a 40mm watch, I have always complained about "big watches." But when I saw what JLC did with the MC, I melted. And I couldn't be happier. I can't get it off my wrist. Mine is with the sub seconds instead of the date. I stopped missing dates when I focused on the Rolex 1013s...and so I don't miss it on the JLC. If you decide to go for one, I don't see how you can be disappointed.

Well I'm just gob smacked. It is going to be awhile before I can pry this off my wrist. Better in person than I could have imagined. And the small sub seconds work perfectly with the dial.
What a superb piece! Do you mind me asking what the ref # is?

174.2.90S. This watch is everything I said I hate in a watch...over 37mm, see through back...sub seconds...over 20mm lugs...rose gold... everything I said I would never buy. But when I saw this in person, I was overwhelmed. More than the date version or the moon phase or any of the other Master Control Ultra Thin models, this is it for me. The color and finish and elegance and simplicity...every time I look at it, it is like the first time. It is the most stunning (for me) watch I have ever seen. I keep looking for something to come close...Patek, VC, all the other ultra high end brands...and they just don't come near (for me) the perfection I find in this watch. In Rolexes, it is the ref 1013...but this is more than those for me...and I've be collecting Rolexes for over 20 years. Three of my four current Rolexes I will keep...but all my other watches will be sold just to have war chest for the next JLC.

Wow, you really like them! I could think of 1 or 2 other ones that I would rank up there (5196) BUT of course they are a lot, like a whole lot, more expensive. Maybe its time to reduce my collection...

MC Date for me. I have the 37mm and it is the perfect understated dress watch.

2 months with my MC date and couldn’t be happier. Today my custom Jean Rousseau strap landed and I thought I’d share.

A few more strap shots . Really digging the combo (and frankly better quality than the OEM )

Thread got bumped so thought I’d take the oppty to do a quick update. I am still enjoying the MC date. It has become my week day driver. I finally purchased the Alligator strap directly from JLC and I have to say that I’m enjoying that strap the most. It certainly dresses it up a bit but it also wears well with tee shirt and blue jeans on the weekend. really happy with my decision.
