Bought my Reverso in an AD, saw this RG Master Calendar model. Made it mine a few years later (After comparing to ALS and PP, couldn’t justify the premium and they didn’t appeal the way this model did) …great “value” for money.

That is fantastic. I'm not usually attracted to multi complications, but that one does it so well...I can't think of words to say. I guess I'm coming late to the JLC appreciation party. Patek and VC always left me wanting...never could develop a passion for them. But Jaeger LeCoultre is leaving me breathless.

Well I don't know if it was a good deal (it was well under their asking price) but this should be here by Saturday. master1.jpg master2.jpg master3.jpg master4.jpg master5.jpg master6.jpg master7.jpg

I normally prefer a large center second hand...but...the Reverso (in just a week) got me comfortable with small seconds. Looking for the perfect watch at a price I felt sane in spending had me considering watches with no seconds, sweep seconds...and then a few like this. Getting all the stars to align took a little time (or maybe too much time based on what I ignored doing to find this). There was a stunning manual wind in Japan, but I wanted more than 34mm. And there was a black dialed one like this but for almost twice the money...blah blah blah...I found this at a dealer back east, who sells watches and diamonds (a pawn shop?) but he also services watches. He wanted to sell it, I wanted to buy it and we came to a deal we both liked. I'm very happy.

Stunner … pretty much drives home the point that yea, perhaps the holy Trinity do a bit more fine finishing, but JLC can still create a knock out.

Well I'm just gob smacked. It is going to be awhile before I can pry this off my wrist. Better in person than I could have imagined. And the small sub seconds work perfectly with the dial. mas a.jpg

I’ve always thought that JLC is far and away the best value in the upper tier of Swiss watchmakers. Spectacular build quality and the watches are just beautiful. The perfect union of engineering and art.

As for style, for me less is more so I’d go for the MC. But the small seconds had me at first look. GobStruck isn’t enough. That is one beautiful time piece - Congratulations!

MC, because if you’re ever in Australia and happen to say to someone would you like to see my MUT, the reaction you get will not be what you expect.

I was back at the JLC store today. The strap that came on the Master Ultra Thin is a regular...but that is not just too big for me...by about 1/2 to 3/4 inch. So I have ordered two shorts...one in the black alligator and one in the dark chocolate brown. When I see them side by side and with the watch, I'll make up my mind. I also inquired about tang buckles. The salesman pointed at the 18k deployant clasp on the Master and said, "That is almost $4000 new." He suggested I live with it for a while...and even if I go to a tang buckle, keep the clasp with the watch. So far in my experience, the tang buckle is one of those simple technologies that will never go out of style. I find the deployment system clumsy compared to the classic clasps on Rolex watches.

    Congrats! Stunning piece!

I'm partial to MUT myself with a deployant buckle and a short gator strap. The strap will last longer on a deployant buckle compared to the tang one. It's also elegantly designed and 18k :)

And the sub seconds dial is placed well on the dial. Sometimes a manufacturer will use a smaller movement in a too large of case and it rides too high, upsetting the aesthetics of the watch.

I ended up going with the MC date. Hard to explain, but the watch just felt better on my wrist. I kept gravitating back to that one when I was at the AD. I even tried on the MC calendar (love the jumping date feature) but it didn’t click for me. The date just felt right. The watch should arrive by Wednesday. Will post pics when it does!

It finally landed and I couldn’t be happier. Pictures don’t do it justice. Such a classic piece and thrilled with my choice
