I think that a fair price has ranged from $275-$400

The last 2 listed here at the OF were like 3x of this price range 😕

Prices are going through the roof on everything 321 related ... depressing if you're trying to bring back a barn find.

Thanks for the quick and detailed answer.

Actually I've the new ck2998 from 2016. I guess you'll find it surprising but I can't afford the original model. However I wanted to buy this strap as I'm a great enthusiast of Speedmaster history. My wrist size is 165mm wide.

Does the strap resistant and strong enough to where the watch securely?

If it's a sacrilege to put this kind of strap on a new ck2998 maybe you could recommend me an other steel strap to match my watch. I've the 1125560 one from Omega but endlinks will damage the case back.

By the way, where can I find those calendar plates? Amazing!

Thanks again for your valued help

I heard, not sure if it's apocryphal or not, but that one of the benefits of wearing the JB Champion during training activities, etc., was that if the bracelet got snagged it would be easy enough to break free without damage to equipment. No doubt someone with more knowledge on the subject will correct or add to this.

I have worn one for many months, days on end and I have always found it secure - never had a problem. Very comfortable. Someone can correct, but was the JB Champion NASA style ever worn on a ch2998 - I always thought they were a mid 60s

You could try to find a 7077/6 almost impossible I suspect or a 7912/6 which you can find but the price will be high.

What are you wearing it on at the moment? Pics please.

I would have thought the 1125 would be a perfect look and fit.

This price range was where I observed the sales 2 1/2 years ago. Tracking the sales over the past 2 years the prices have crept up into the $500+ area. I still think good deals can be had for around $500 with a little work.

Congratulations on your new watch. It's a wonderful piece that I'm sure it will provide you years of enjoyment. While the JB bracelet might look flimsy it's quite robust and will keep the watch securely fitted to your wrist. I think a nice condition JB bracelet would be a great addition to the new CK2998. There are a number of images floating around the Omega Forum of members with the CK2998/JB combination. The small calendars are a neat addition to the bracelet. Period correct 1960's calendars are hard to come by and pricy for what they are, but the same style calendars are still produced today and might be a nice modern addition to accompany the modern combination.

@blubard is correct. One of the advantages of the JB bracelet is that in an emergency it could easily be broken away form the watch head it if became snagged or hooked on something in the small confines of a capsule. The two earliest wearers of the traditional NASA style bracelet were Wally Schirra and Gordon Cooper on their 2998's.

@AML-90 enjoy your new watch. In my opinion I think the JB Champion bracelet is incredibly comfortable and secure. I try to wear my Speedmaster on the 1450 and 1479 bracelets but the watch quickly finds its way back onto the JB Champion just because of the sheer comfort of wearing it and the retro cool look it adds to the watch. Whatever you choose to do you should be pleased with your new watch and have chosen well.

Thanks to all of you. I learn a lot.

I'm wearing my ck2998 on a nato strap.

I think this one looks good, I really need one (not my pic)

The one on ebay looks great but import taxes are really expensive. Maybe one of you will agree to sell me one? 😉

I'll put the 1125 strap but for now I will avoid putting it. Endlinks will scratch the case back. I have to think about it.

Any for sale? 😉

There is a forum for Wanted to Buy, that is where requests should be posted.

What an incredible thread!

This forum is full of pearls😀

I guess my hunt for a JB Champ will now commence. I’m not much of a traditional bracelet fan, but dig the history and aesthetics of the mesh Champ.

I’d say a leather strap and a mesh JBC and I’d be set!

Great thread all.
I’m waiting for my 105.012 66 CB to come out of the shop. In the meantime I had the equivalent a barn find in the JBC bracelet world. Wondering around NYC yesterday, I saw some very dusty display cases containing watches and bracelets in the window of a tiny shoe repair shop and in the bottom found this:

I mention this to encourage hunters that there are still some out in “the wild” if you keep your eyes open and like me are lucky. Good hunting.
ps I’m wearing it on another watch and quite simply it’s the most comfortable bracelet I’ve ever used.

Ed White...

Oh gee whiz...now you’ve done it...you posted a pic of Lt. Col. Ed White wearing his Speedy with what appears to be a straight end piece(s) JB Champion bracelet. So...it looks like I’m finally on the the hunt for one of these JB Champion bracelets (with straight end pieces) to go with my recently acquired 105.003 1964 birth year “Echo Whiskey”. Tons of great information here...thanks for posting, sir. 👍

Congrats on the find!

This is a great thread! I never knew the reason why Nasa picked the JB bracelet before!

If Ed White jumped off a cliff, would you do that, too? (in your mom's voice)

Probably. 👍

Heck...my “first attempted flight” as a [glider] pilot was off of our garage roof circa 1968/1969, age 4 or 5, with my mom’s umbrella...which I took without permission...and subsequently broke. 😁

LATE ENTRY #1: The attempt was NOT successful. 👎

LATE ENTRY #2: That ridiculous Mary Poppins movie gives good kids bad ideas regarding basic aerodynamics and physics...it should be outlawed. 🫨
