Hey all,
As I comb ebay for my next Seamaster, I'm of course attracted to the dark faces...just so I don't end up with a watch identical to the one I've already got...the forum has been great at acquainting me with some of what I need to look out for and I wanted you to check my work if anyone is willing...

This is a black face has a T's on either side of the Omega...but preceded and followed by hyphens... ( -- T Omega T -- ) which is not something I've ever seen before. But the two Ts would lead me to look for luminescence on both the hands and numbers. the 565 cal movement seems historically correct...but doesn't the 186 designation on the inside of the case incorrect for this watch?

It's a nice watch and it's inexpensive...but probably for a reason.

I'd love whatever guidance and advice I can get on this...
thanks
Mark

Your references to 'black faces' are making me uncomfortable
Yeah...you know my posts are showing up in some database somewhere. I have to be mindful of my references. I think I'm going to devote my time to nice Steel Constellations with metal bracelets like mine. Nice and non controversial. Happily, Pie Pan constellations don't really appeal to me...which is a nice moneysaver.

I may be wrong... but it appears to be a legit black dial. Ie very uncommon.

My inexpert take: Fonts and hash marks look good. Movement is clean. Seconds hand looks like it鈥檚 been replaced? The lume around the hour markers is a nice ice cream scoop melting which suggests that this dial is legit to my eye.

Edited to add: hard to tell from the pics what your reference number is. This might be a Franken

This is a 166.002 if I'm not mistaken. Looks good to me. Here is mine 166.002 cal.565, but Geneve on the dial instead Seamaster.

I鈥檓 hoping an OF expert can respond but I had understood that some older types of end of indices lume could degrade in a way similar to this watch dial?
