Hi,
Thats the second watch I am interested in.
My first Thread: https://omegaforums.net/threads/jaeger-le-coultre-memovox-cal-601-1952.109826/
Same question: Does anybody know if the watch looks genuine ?
Thank you in advance!
Best regards

It looks legit at first glance, but the case is terribly over-polished.

Thank for that link.
If I would get that watch for around 500 pound, would that be a good deal?

What do you mean ?

I was referring to the comment
case is terribly over-polished.

I don't know what it's worth.

Also, the round grooves inside the caseback indicate the movement automatic winding rotor is loose and rubbing. If that's the case then it would need to be serviced by a watchmaker.

Thanks, I haven't seen this.
Is such a service very expensive ?
I don't know, I'm not a watchmaker.

It looks like it was serviced it 2014. Perhaps the grooves are prior to that. It doesn’t seem like a watch that would be a daily beater

If you like it I think 500 is pretty reasonable. Have you tried it on (or one similar)? In modern fashion many smaller diameter watches are more appealing in pictures than on the wrist but of course that’s subjective to the wearer

Hi, thanks.
I am not planning to wear that watch everyday , it's a bit too small for my wrist. But I like Jaeger-LeCoultre and think it's a very beautiful watch.

I looked around and saw, that watches like this are sold for around 1500 - 2000 $.
If it's in a bad condition, I could melt it down and sell the gold 😁 (just a joke, would never do this). I forgot to say, that it's made of solid 14k gold.
What do you think about the dial, is it in a good or bad condition? It looks clean, except the white spots and the damage at 10 o clock.

EDIT:
Do you know if a polishing reduces the value very much ?
And if the rotor would be loose, would this be an expensive service ?

Thanks for all your help.
Best regards

This is what makes the deal work for me:

Case is solid 14K gold. Yes, it is polished and engraved. Assuming the U.K. VAT is included in the price, it’s a good buy. If you need to add another 20% to the price, then I would pass.

Dial and hands are original. On these watches, that is usually not the case.

You will need to invest money in a cleaning and adjustment, but despite the horrible pictures, this is a nice watch.

Good luck with the purchase.

Hi,
Thanks for the fast help.
I haven't bought the because if two reasons: 1. The price went a bit higher than my limit. 2. The engraving on the case
But I am interested in an other watch, its a Rolex oysterdate 😀
Thanky again
Best regards
