Hi all, I just came across this JLC from the 1940 and wondering if this is a redial? I carefully examine the font of Jaeger Le coultre and the letter "O" looks abit off to me compared to other similar models. Hope to get an expert opinion on this. Thanks! https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/XgoAAOSwJ~dia4aW/s-l1600.jpg
I vote original. Nice even patina and “Swiss” at bottom is proper font. Case is in decent shape with almost zero rust. gatorcpa
That's an interesting comment. I thought the hands have the original lume though. Perhaps it might be due to the light.
The O does look a little off, but everything else looks really good. The tracks for both the minutes and seconds look really sharp and correctly placed, the lume on the numerals how the kind of aging you'd expect on a watch this vintage. On top of that, that patina has taken decades to form. The only thing I think might not be original is the lume in the hands.
I agree that the dial is likely original. The hand lume could be, as mismatched colors (with the indexes) are not unusual, but black light and/or radiation detector would confirm either way.
Appreciate the help from the community. Looks like the general consensus of the dial is original. I took other pictures of the similar reference to compare the lume. It seem the color of the lume can be the same as the lume on the numerals or it could be different. Any further thoughts?
No doubt the dial is original, and for the hands lume my guts say also original. No easy way to verify this before buying. Keep in mind that the « B » on the back usually indicate a chrome plated case…
Thanks for the advice. I saw some pieces have "L" indicated on it. Any idea what it means? I noted that A means gold case (if I am not wrong..)
