Hello OF,

Would like to seek advice on this IWC Cal. 401, if it is authentic and original.

I had viewed the following thread for some information or details, but nothing substantial to address my concerns.
https://omegaforums.net/threads/vintage-iwc-international-watch-company-information.41780/

Details of the watch provided by the seller.
• Circa: 1963
• Movement: IWC In-house Caliber 401 workhorse (mechanical manual winding)
• Case: 33.5mm (with crown 35mm)
• Case thickness: 9mm
• Lug width: 18mm
• Dial: Cream color with beautifully-aged patina in good condition
• Crystal: in near mint condition
• Watch was fully serviced in June 2021

Is the asking price of US$2,200 reasonable?

You will need to post better photos of the dial if you want any decent assessment.

It appears to be a genuine example, and I like the reference. However, the photos are still not sufficiently good to make fine judgements. I suspect that the case has experienced some polishing, but cannot be certain based on the photos. There are no clear photos of the gold hallmark(s), which can be very useful in judging the degree of polishing. The image of the movement is of particularly poor quality, making it difficult to assess its condition with confidence.
