I have been considering an IWC cal89 purchase. Had a look at a couple of possibilities.
Do the knowledgable ones think these dials look correct? Any help would be much appreciated. Sorry clarity is not great but best I can get. Thanks in advance.

It is best if you can post good sharp photos in high resolution.

My own creation: as far as I can see 😁
Nicely done!
Might I ask why you thought this is original and correct? Thanks

I think the outer markings (points, minute idexes) are similar to the one I own. SWISS seems correct too.
(Sorry: no native english-speaker)

Thanks.
Would you mind posting a pic?
Does yours have brushed sides?
Thanks for your help

As I am living now in Southern France, not all my watches are here. The .89 is in still Germany. I add a picture I took today from my .83 here but I remember the elaboration of the 89 idexes at that time and IMO they look OK on yours.

The problem with the high-res. pictures is the edge of the Plexi that leads to distortions. If the indexes -as far as I remember- slightly "engraved". Concerned brushing: I dont rememer. Sorry.
I think there will be more answers coming up.

Thanks so much for taking the time. I’ll look forward to some more responses. Enjoy the south of France, lovely part of the world!

A lot of these iwc's were refinished. Personally I always stayed away of thick fonts like this. Do you have a link to the sales post? The pictures are very blurry.

Couple of iwc's with thinner font. One of them is a 89

Thanks for the reply. Blurry pics and high prices raise suspicions. I’ve included the link and any other ones I see I’ll put up. Cheers https://thewatchcollector.co.uk/col...roducts/iwc-manual-winding-cal-89-dress-watch

Well, first of all. Price is ridiculous. So that's a hard pass.

Font.... well, not sure. Could be ok. I always went for the thinner font. Less chances beeing repainted somehow.

Price is £ 1995 by the way.
Thanks for the info. I was aware that the price was way over blown, do you think this could be an original dial?
What in your opinion should original cal.89’s be going for? They seem to fluctuate a lot.
Thanks for your help.

I've sold similar iwc's here between eur 700 to 1500. You can find these often in Japan for around eur 800 or so. Sometimes even less. They are not rare. It could be a original dial.

Thanks @Shabbaz for the advice. They does seem to be a real range with these IWC’s as with all things I suppose. If the dial is genuine, price can be brought down and the guy can provide better images plus movement pics it might seem worth it. Could be a big ask though.

Also, the cal 89 pieces in 37mm cases will sell for more than the 35mm. Make sure you are comparing apples to apples. The asking price is probably 3x too high for a 35mm IWC. Even at 1000£, the seller would be doing well IMO. Personally, I really like the way the 37mm pieces wear, they are fantastic, and they also come with some interesting pug styles.
