Constellation 398.0876 - caseback query

Hi there - new to this forum and was hoping for some help with a vintage Constellation 398.0876 that I just bought.

Most of the constellations from the time I have seen have the observatory image on the caseback, but this one does not.

Would that indicate that it is not the original caseback? Or are there some original pieces with this caseback out there?

Thanks - any help is gratefully appreciated!

Hi, I doubt its a 398.0876. The third number, the '8' in Omegas system says its a chronometer (certified). And if so that would mean they put Chronometer on the dial which you will find with all the 398.xxx references. It would then also have the Observatory on the back.
  • 398.0869
  • 398.0816
  • 398.0826
  • 398.0836
  • 398.0846
  • 398.0856
  • 398.0866
  • 398.0876

The 396.1070/80 which you will find with day date are thus also not chronometers. You will have to get the previous reference 398.0869. Which is a chronometer. In general with this Omega 'Manhatten' line, when the 'holes' hold the claws went, so did the chronometer certification.
