路Like all anecdotal historical 'evidence' for these things it's best never to say "never".
I have a long time mil collector friend who was chatting with a former Herstmocceaux watch repairer who remembers actually applying the T's with something he called a Squib, apparently. So who knows? I am in the art conservation world and to be honest the messy T looks more like something clumsily squashed on with some kind of implement rather than applied with a paint brush.
I am very happy to have it as an oddity and have a non circle T MoD redialled Omega '53 to go along with it....lol.
