Up for sale is my beautiful and original IWC Mark XI 6B/346.
The Mark XI was launched in 1948 when International Watch Company (IWC) produced watches that were based on specifications from the British Ministry of Defense (MoD). Functionality was the primary concern of these timepieces, and the resulting watches would end up as an all-time classic. The reason this watch was so high in demand is not only because its well-balanced looks, but mostly for the high quality and reliability as it houses the legendary cal. 89 with hacking movement and 50-hour power reserve. Protected by a sturdy case with antimagnetic cage, something very progressive in the 1950's. The stainless steel case measures 36mm and features a dial with perfect lay-out. The Mark 11 was an exercise in straightforward simplicity.
Caseback is marked 6B/346 and is in clear superb condition. The high quality IWC Cal. 89 manual winding hacking movement is working fine. Service history unknown, I have not serviced it while in my possession.
The watch perfectly retains all its military caseback engravings and is unpolished. Light age related wear. The military winding crown is original, too.
The unrestored superb condition dial features the British military broad arrow and the printed circled ‘T’ showing that tritium was used for the luminous material. The lume itself is probably the best I have ever seen on one of these, being a gorgeous creamy color and perfectly matching the hands.
