IWC 3705 Re-edition

A 3705 reissue in Ceratanium material and 69 caliber is a good idea, but personally I find two major flaws in the execution of the product that prevented me from buying one:

1. Pairing the RAF style baton hands with Luftwaffe style 12 o'clock triangle marker (with the 2 dots). Instead of sticking to decades old tradition, why the mix and match for no good reasons?

2. The much reduced wearability resulted from the 51mm L2L distance (as opposed to 48mm in the original 3705). Part of the charm of 90's IWC watches (including the original Pilot's Chrono, Portuguese Chrono) is their good wearability, in terms of both case size and L2L distance; this reissue fails to reflect that point.

I like it, but unfortunately it is the hardest of no's at that price. We'll see where they go on the secondary market though, I bet under $8k within a year. I'll start paying more attention at that point!

I like it. A lot. Signed up for preorder. Received a mail today that I could preorder... but i‘ll skip. CHF 12‘900 would buy me a Speedy Snoopy III or almost an Ed White (although that waitlist).

Besides the ceratanium it‘s the same watch as the Spitfire in steel (IW387903) or the one in bronze. Just the double price. Hmmmm....

Funnily enough I got an email from my dad sending me a picture of the watch and he said "It is so nice! I want it". He doesn't even know what a 3705 is. But he also didn't see the price tag.

Could also be he's deducting it from your inheritance.::rimshot::

Aaaand already one up on WUS for $15k.

At least it means we have some real-world photos of the watch, and frankly I really don't like the look of the classic Pilot hands and numerals with white luminova.

^ I take it all back. Photos and renders do absolutely no justice to this one; in person it is fantastic and I really really want one now.

It does look better than on the renders. I still would've preferred that they didn't cut the numerals.

My friend got one but returned it. Nothing like the original.

I think it’s a nice watch but not a $13k watch.

Yeah, I still don't know that I'd buy it for retail price. Anything below $10k though and it'd be a shoo-in.
