I love Seiko, most things from the bottom to the top inc GS as they offer (to me VFM) when not paying list.
Anyway brand new 38mm 62MAS edition with a new 6 series movement R37 and a bit thinner.
Power reserve down from 70 hours to 45 ish!!!
€3700 on rubber strap? No not joking 3700 for a 6 series Seiko automatic.
They have lost the plot on this one I’m afraid. Very very hard pass for me.

I hear you. I love the low end of Seiko and the high end, but some of the stuff in the middle needs better movements. It's kinda rough to get excited about watches in the $1500-$4K range that don't keep much better time that a 5KX.

Adding pictures purely because I like the look of this watch. Sub 40mm watch that doesn’t sit as high as a house on your wrist, and nice styling…

…however, outside of that, I do very much agree with the points made above regarding movement and price.

It sure looks purdy though...they just need a movement that gives similar specs to that Tudor and others offer in that price range.

Strange that they keep putting out re-editions of the 62mas. This must be the third version.

The Prospex SPB143 and kin did, although the words were in different places on the dial.

Yes as Seiko takes pride in thier divers being ISO tested and legally allowed to say divers on them. Something that the Swiss don’t care about.

Got to agree some very mundane movements in some of the higher priced divers and dress has completely put me off buying any new Seiko watches period.
Its not like they don't have some good quality 60/70 hour reserve higher jeweled and featured movements but the premium asked is just ridiculous for the market segment.

I think they've nailed the size and aesthetic of this one - it's the best of the 62MAS reeditions in that regard. I also get that they have replaced the 8L35 with a thinner movement, which contributes to the 12.5mm thickness. I'm not so fussed about timekeeping specs and the lesser power reserve, but at this price point they're competing directly with COSC rated watches from Tudor that come with a bracelet.

Ok so this is pretty much a grail watch for me. But before I drop 3.5k I want to try it on.

this is a problem.
