I’ve been struggling to get a decent shot if my old Speedie’s dial...

Brave man. I would never consider doing this myself

but shouldnt you be wearing those little finger condoms? ( to stop oils and grease from your hands from staining the dial and touching the movement)?

C’mon guys, it’s just an old watch, I doubt it would catch the virus anyway.

2998? Seems a shame to trash it!

It’s interesting.

In some of the photos, the hands look flat, i.e. modern. Then in others, I can clearly see the curves in them.

If it’s not too impolite to ask: Is the lume original or redone?

Who can tell for sure, unless you owned it from new and never had it serviced.
As far as I know the dial and hands have original (I assume) radium lume.
The second hand lume looks very slightly different to the hour and minute lume, or used to.
I’ve owned it for around 20 years and it has changed in that time, at least to my eyes/memory.

Very impressive. Put me out of my misery then, is it a 2998 or 105.002?
Thank you.
It’s a 2998-61. Birth year watch so special for me.
