It got a little chilly (bomb cyclone content)

I took the dogs for a walk at 3:30pm today, and it was pleasant. Then I went to a basketball game, and it was getting a little nippy. Then look what happened. This is not an error. Apparently it's called a "bomb cyclone."

This is one of the reasons I love Colorado. Thanks for sharing those charts Dan. My family back home doesn’t believe this stuff really happens.

If you were outside during the event, it was like stepping into a walk-in freezer from one minute to the next. I've experienced some wild swings, but this was really extreme. The temperature is still slowly dropping.

Looks like good outdoor hockey playing weather 👍

It would be, except that it has been above freezing all week, so it would be a soggy game.

A bit nippy on Wednesday and Thursday where I live (wind chill factor -31 C°, - 24 F°), but almost tropical starting Saturday. Three day wait for a tow truck, 18 hours for a boost! I feel for you in Colorado!

Apparently, it will be back to normal here by the weekend also. The forecast high for Saturday is 45˚F (7˚C).

Being born and raised in the Northeast of the USA, and then living in both Michigan & Minnesota for a spell I can safely say - I hate cold weather.
So I moved to the desert, and now I bitch & moan when the mercury dips below 70.

And for the Fahrenheit-challenged

I thought I was looking at the crypt market- just weather extremes with real consequences.

That is fascinating and pretty impressive. I guess stateside you are more used to weather extremes. Would be a very rare phenomenon here in the UK but I sort if remember (or at least I think I do!) a helicopter crash somewhere up north (Scotland?) being linked to a similar occurance some time ago.

Very cold here: -12C/10F in Vancouver, which is rare. I quite like it. Feels much colder given we’re on the coast. Yet it’s drier than usual and the powder snow is just like the Canadian Prairies or Midwestern States.

We were hoping for a white Christmas, but with rains and a high of 9C/48F forecast for Sunday and Monday, it’ll be a slush-fest.

Gotta get to the gym and walk the dog before noon today. Blower is gassed up and tested, had the HVAC tech out to the house last week, our AWD cars have their winter shoes on. Good to go. Waxing up the skis.

Here in NY we're not getting it until tomorrow (Friday) evening, but we have a large thunderstorm passing through just ahead of it. So the anticipation of a nasty icy weekend isn't fun

Yep, better be out when Ponzi scheme bursts, avoiding the long ride down. That ride is always scenic.

It's a brisk 65F here now in Florida. But my area is anticipating one of the coldest Xmas days in the last 20-30 years.
Expecting a high of of 47 and a low of 43! Low of high 30's for Friday and Saturday!

I'm in Chicagoland, and the temp drop is starting to pick up. 22F now, was 29F just an hour or so ago. Should hit single digits in the next couple hours.

It’s headed our way on Saturday. Typical nasty cold December rain right now with sleet this morning but look what’s coming! 😲
