This thread has made me realize I need to buy more wine in order to justify purchasing a wine fridge.

Queuing up Monty Python......Oh I could only DREAM of having a wine cooler that quiet, when I was a child I had to lug my wheezing, groaning wine cooler to school, uphill, both ways, in a blinding snowstorm. Oh you are at the HEIGHT of luxury, my dear SIR!

Ours came with the house when we bought it. Pretty sure it is made by Kenmore...not sure if they are even still in business anymore lol.
But it is quiet! however it is installed into the cabinets. But it is old.
We will be re-doing our kitchen this year (according to my wife) and we actually just bought all new appliances (minus microwave and wine fridge)
So I'm open to suggestions for a new wine fridge if anyone has recommendations!
We don't need a big one...counter height.

My wife just signed up for a Winc subscription.
It has been....problematic lol.
Not in a bad way of course. Just get 2 cases showing up to the house every so often.
But it is actually pretty neat from what she has told me. Seems like more than just a wine store.
There is an app that goes along with it and tells you all about the bottles that you buy and whatnot.
It taught me that I like wines with low sugar.

Two pages and not a single "Is your wine refrigerator running" joke....

At least you're always certain you need to catch it!

(catch your wine refrigerator, because it's running, that's the joke.... about your wine refrigerator...)

My purchase has been more than validated by all the attention I'm getting here. I truly appreciate everyone's replies and all of the chances they have afforded me to talk about my own personal wine fridge right here in my living room.

I think it's the latter.
Heat pumps are quiet… that’s one of the reasons they make them over traditional condenser type units. I wonder if it’s the fan.

Heat pumps are quiet…
Are you referring to peltier thermoelectric cooler technology when referring to "heat pump"? Those would be quiet.

It was not lost on i as well.

but @Deafboy yes the piezoelectric heat pumps… although some have a fan to push the heat away from the exchanger and those fans can be come loud. Also it might have a noisy transformer in it as well as II think those need dc.

In my country (Canada), heat pumps refer to air conditioner units that can also heat a home in the wintertime (the reverse of what an air conditioner does). Wikipedia link. This is the first time I hear the term used for a refrigerator.

Thermoelectric coolers are not piezoelectric devices.

Would you describe the sound as a whine?
Yes he is obviously whining.
