I think this fits the bill.
My grandfather passed away and left me this watch. I know nothing about it other than he got it sometime in the 60s and it was serviced a few years ago. Can anyone identify? Is there any possibility the dial is factory? I haven’t dared to open the case back. Only mark on the outer case says 14k gold.

Hi .. just come across the watch below in my step dads stuff. doesn't look particularly genuine and looking on line anything showing "Geneva" tends to be spelt "Geneve". Anyway, just in case......

I think “Japan Movt” gives the game away.

the Avia looks genuine and has age, but is poor condition, although it works. Any ideas of age?

Picked this Railmaster from Japan via chrono24. Dealer checked out and the watch came with international warranty, all boxes, even original factory box. Still, the price was so good that I need more peace of mind. Serial number checks out, with chronometer spec too. AD sized bracelet and said it's real, but with super fakes you never know! Let me know if anything stands out (not even sure if they are faking railmasters to high standards but who knows!).

I know this forum is filled with folks who really know if anything looks off. Also, in love with the watch! 😀
Looks absolutely right, identical to my own Railmaster which I bought from an OB.

With METAS certified watch (like this railmaster), can we assume that the watch is 100% legit if when if you log onto Omega's website and use the watch serial number to check the test results, it actually works ?
I image a fake watch would have a dummy serial number and tis wouldn't be recognized on Omega's website ?

Hi there, I am thinking about buying this speedy SS from a dealer on chrono24. It will be my first omega. Looks good - any opinions on whether it is authentic?

looks almost exactly like mine but maybe it’s just your picture resolution but compared to my one, yours seems flat in the applied line on the face . I’ve compared my denim dial to yours side by side and the applied line shows as jagged edges on macro pics. Also one of your close up shots shows what looks to be an mis -aligned second hand - it appears that it’s non-centred hole - omega wouldn’t allow that surely ?

I’m very likely wrong .

its a watch fake or no??

Looks fine to my eyes—in terms of authenticity. But it also looks totally beat up. I wouldn’t pay more than a couple hundred for that, knowing what it would cost to get it into acceptable condition.

It honestly looks like this has been run-over. IIRC the sapphire crystal on the 2254.50 is AR on both sides, but that damage looks incredibly extensive. I'd be very concerned about what it's been through.

@hen , opinion?

I bought this second hand, it quite worn, but is it real? To me it feels a bit wobbly, far more than my modern Aqua Terra burshed clasp. Is this normal/expected? What's your opinion? I miss the "54" marking, but could that have been worn out?

Fake, IMO. Bracelet is ALL wrong. And date font is also completely wrong. Lume pip looks off, crown guards are too far off the crown itself. and "crystal" looks like it may be plastic because Sapphire doesn't normally scratch like that.

100% fake. The helium escape valve is in the wrong place, entire bezel is wrong, entire case shape & profile is wrong, and that bracelet… so much wrong. The bracelet should have “male” end links and the bracelets taper exceeds the width of the lugs. For your own edification, here is a genuine example you can study.

Thanks for th chime in, scarecrow. I don't think it's possible to damage the sapphire crystal in that way, did fakes of the 2254 have Sapphire or plexi?

That is certainly not sapphire. I just scavenged a heavily active fake watch forum in search of more information and I just want to bash my head into a wall lol. I forget how horrible that place is. According to what I found, this is an old fake made by one of two manufacturers. Both of which no longer exist and no one else is currently faking these. When these were initially sold, they went for less than $100 and were primarily equipped with a quartz movement. Apparently, this (genuine) reference is gaining popularity in the fake world. So much so that more people have taken to building Frankenstein’s of this watch using fake case/bezel with genuine dial/hand and the eta movement. There are many threads bragging and going over the minute details of how “good” they look.

🍿 That's hilarious. I got yelled at a while back online by someone who bought a fake Speedmaster in Vietnam (I originally thought he did it on accident and offered my condolences which is what made him mad I think).

I've definitely noticed an uptick in interest of the 2254- especially on reddit it seems like there are more and more people hailing it as the Seamaster with the perfect dimensions. it's definitely a watch I've always found attractive so I can see why!
