Hello! Recently a friend showed me this watch wondering If it would be a good buy. Do you see any issues with it?

I think the caseback might not be original. Maybe the whole case?

Think it is legit. Why don’t you think it is not?

It looks good to me. The only thing that stands out to me is the replacement crown, but that's not a deal breaker. Price seems good. The dial is a cool variation.

The tip of the sweep hand may have broken off and the crown is not original. Otherwise, nothing is jumping out at me as being wrong. "Good buy" would depend on the price, it's a perfectly fine starter piece.

It’s genuine and largely original. The dial appears in reasonable condition and is one of the less common types with the attractive concentric circles.

Be aware that this is a snap back case (not as collectible, valued as screw back cases) and it’s also a small size at 31mm when most (what would now be considered) men’s watches from this period are 34mm.

Price should reflect this and it may be preferable to simply wait longer/pay more for a 34mm screw back version. That would be my preference.

I saw another one of these on a different forum and was left with the impression that the dial is embossed. Is that correct? The markers don't appear to be applied (e.g the sides are white). Obviously embossing was a standard way to make dials for entry-level pieces, but it's sort of a cheap approach for an Omega and reinforces the impression that this was a budget model.

I don’t know for certain but I’ve seen angled pictures of these dials before and thought the same, particularly with the indexes appearing to be stamped rather than applied.

For that price range it's a steal, such a special dial
