Is this Transitional worth €12,000?

You've mentioned serial numbers before as a negative against other examples, but again, this serial is fine for a -68 transitional.

Also, the -68 doesn't mean all examples were produced in 1968, it's more of a model reference no.
hence my sentence : without saying it can't be regarded as a transitional
as for knowing if a transitional is clocer to a 145.012 or 145.022 of 1970 I don't bloody have any opinion on that, and nevermind... we're not in a Jaipur tourist bazaar, are we?
well actually a transitional is oubsiouvly called so because it's closer to a 145.012 due to the raised logo, the long markers and the caseback. I other word, and IMO, it's a 145.012 with a new engine and not a 145.022 with an old dial and caseback. Just a matter of point of view

I'm not sure what you're saying, but this watch is the exact same reference as the one you/your friend is selling.

What is the issue with the serial number?

- no papers
- better bezel, probably
- better case and dial, I don't think so
- S/Number associated ... There's no picture of the movement
- service unknown : mine was serviced a few months ago.

some other issues without saying it can't be regarded as a transitional :

produced in 69
27xxxx serial number
crystal does not look from 1969
which for some geeks is important.

But never mind, you decided some time ago that I was here with the intention of scamming someone... keep going.
Hey @Kwijibo I hope you mind if I join this debate. I don't think anyone suggested that you were here to scam someone.
Indeed this looks like a great watch, so congrats to your friend here for having a nice piece.
It seems that trying to capture the main issues:
- It could have been better presented at the offset. But I sense there is a consensus here on that with yourself included.
- The price seems high. But, you are the acting seller and assume you are taking direction from your friend.
- Selling on behalf of a friend seems a loophole in the 200 post rule. Not your issue, one for the Mods.

IMHO I do think ultimately it was the high price that riled people. That attracted the attention of the deep dive into the whole issues above.

Am surprised therefore as the acting seller and seasoned OF Member here that you are surprised at the feedback received to date.

I think that eBay indeed was a good resort in where you went for the price being commanded. I don't quite understand why the price is the same as it is on Ebay to the same price here for the OF members?

But, non-the-less, I wish you GLWS.

The eBay road is a slippery slope. Myself I would never sell anything more valuable there. Not only because of their pretty large fees, but also because of the apparent risk that you'll loose the watch if anything goes wrong in transfer to the buyer

nothing, I've been almost thrown some stone at for not giving the full serial nummber but this watch is a muche better exemple with no picture of the movement. I have no problem with this particular watch regarding its serial number.

Hi joe

I don't mind at all if you join the thread, We are all here on an equal level.
I know the price was high, probably a little too much. I'm not really amazed at the rather violent reactions of some members. I'm used to foums and know the tone can be sometimes hard.
As for ebay. Yes I put it there today. The price is the same : best offer here and there. The cost of ebay remains but I will probably do a better final price here. My point is having a good price, not making money at all cost.

cheers

You did mention that in the sales thread - you indicated if it was your watch you would have listed it for 9,000 - I assume that Euros?

I think therein lies the answer. Anytime prices are markedly higher than previously established one has to expect unreasonable amounts of vitriol and criticism. Happens all the time when something desired is put on the open market; real estate, cars, athletes, and especially watches.

GLWTS, and hope it finds a solid home.

Jeepurs, I've just seen this..... Wow how that's developed! I wish one of the more informative threads attracted 190+ responses in such a short space of time!

@Atalien2005 : true, I gave my opinion on its lower price, it's just my opinion.
@Archer : yes Archer probably something like 9000 euros. You know it's above all a question of condition. I listed my other transitional at a much lower price on the bay.
@yinzerniner : I don't complain, just ask a minimum of respect an constructive discussion. Violence is rarely a solution to anything.
@Traveler @72c : Never!!! 🤪 it begins to be kind of weird (almost)
@Tom Dick : initially, there was no intention of messing the forum up. In fact I did not open this thread myself.

Seller, you won't find any critism from me, looks like a good watch with very few issues, the price is what someone is willing to pay, was a 105.003 worth $10K+ two years ago? No! But it is now..... I

I just wish that th forum would respond with such vigour and enthusiasm when people post truly informative posts (which is why I love this forum and why I've deserted the other pitch fork touting mobs elsewhere), information and a passion for horological persists is what the community is all about. It's been quite some time since I've seen a subject attract ten pages of responses in such a short space of time.

I hope you get what you want for the watch for your friend and from a personal perspective GLWS

I totally agree to what you say. Market is what it is wether we like that or not. My point is not to encourage that. for instance I sell my 105 for a much lower price. I'll soon list an decent old Omega at 400 or so. I'm not making some advertissement just saying I'm not particularly greedy.
What I like on OF is that we try to give some good advice to newbies like not paying 800 euros for a "classic" 565. As for knowinf at how much they will sell in a few years, everything is possible...

Gents,

how about if we let the "market" figure its value out?

😉

... and yes I do feel all Chicago boyish today ...😁
