Is this Speedy 145.0022 relumed?

Hi OF Speedy experts

I sold my modern Speedy 1861 about a month ago and aim to recycle the cash into earlier model with a tritium dial, focusing on refs 145.0(0)2 / 3590.00 for affordability.

I've come across the following offering of a 145.0022 on local site which I believe is in an overall very good condition (e.g. sharp case, intact bezel). I like the "long S and r" dial. I also like the color of the lume. But here comes my question, may the dial have been relumed? The lume plots do not look evenly shaped and somewhat wider in the middle, for instance at the 1 o'clock mark.

Price-wise it's pretty steep with €5600 but it comes with box and papers and the 1450 bracelet and 808 EL, which alone is worth approx. €1000 if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks for your help!

Definitively not a relume (hands look original too). Thats how they colored (edit: and applied) them in the late 80s/early-mid-90s ... nice looking piece 👍

As said by Eugène, that's not a relumed dial.
This lume texture is specific to the 90s Speedies.
It's a lovely one by the way !

Enjoy

Lume profile looks exactly the same as my 1991 3590.50 - a bit blobby, not fully covering the plots in some cases, almost looks like it's melted or moved a bit over the years. This maybe isn't the most attractive description, but this type of lume looks fantastic in the flesh!

Early 80s speedies had lime green lume, ( up to 1984 ish), so I’d guess this one in the range 1985 to 90. A new bracelet came in the 90s, which yours doesnt have.

search Davidoff Bros website or instgram sites, as they have sold a lot of these recently to compare

That description is spot on, I just didn't find the words for it, many thanks. I definitely have to see it for real first before pulling the trigger.

The serial number dates it to 1989 so you're correct with your guess.

Thanks also for the reference to Davidoff Bros. Will check it out to compare, also the differences to the early 80ies examples as I'm also keeping an eye out for a birthyear example (1981).

Many thanks everyone for chiming in and giving your unanimous positive view on the lume. This gives me the confidence to move to the next stage... physical inspection and price negotiation. I'll keep you posted.

I owe you guys an update….

I pulled the trigger today. The condition is outstanding in my view. The seller had bought it from the original owner who for some reason owned more than one example of the same watch if he liked a specific model. So this example was one of his spare ones that has hardly been worn over the last 30 years. Therefore the case has hardly any scratches. The 1450 bracelet isn’t stretched and wears very comfortably. And the best part, the lume just POPS. So much nicer in reality than on the pictures.

Many thanks again for your advice and encouragement. I absolutely love it.
