My gut is this is not a scam, but someone who has an old watch that is working poorly, doesn’t want to bother fixing it, and is dumping it at a low price to get rid of it. I doubt whoever bought this got the bargain they were hoping for.

If it does exist then after a $600 Omega service it will still be a bargain. The $179 shipping charge does ring an alarm bell though, unless he is a naive seller who doesn't realise ebay levy charges on the shipping too. On balance, it is probably just a scam.

Seller is listed as Whitehorse, that is way up north, that may explain the shipping charges for expedited shipping.

If people use amplitude readings in their description I assume they know what they are selling

Never said they didn't know what they had or nothing about watches. My point was it isn't always about making the biggest profit -- sometimes you just want to sell junk fast. Perhaps he bought it new and never serviced it, knows it is doing poorly, and just wanted to get rid of it and move it fast. Maybe he bought it at a garage sale for even less and is just making a small profit an moving on.

Or it's a scam. We will probably never know unless the buyer reads this thread.

I think scam. The guy knows enough to get the performance specs and then sells for an out of market price? Why not just do an auction starting at $1?

What could the scam be here? I'm still pretty new to eBay and may be naive, but I would have been pretty confident giving it a shot at that price since the seller accepts returns.

Some of the known recent ebay scams seem to involve low item prices but massive shipping fees, so this ticks that box for one. I wonder if when they refund you for the non existent or fake item they fail to refund the shipping? Either way you lose.
