Is this an early 64 Speedmaster Professional dial?

It was part of the deal to replace the dial in a 68 Speedy, not the dial alone.
The 68 is a rare transitional reference. You don't want to swap out any part, unless it results in the watch not working, if it can be avoided. Particularly, you don't want to swap out something correct (though possibly damaged or less attractive) with incorrect parts.

Want to show the -68 as it currently stands?

I feel horrible, I almost made the trade. Thanks guys.
Sometimes one wants something so bad that you don't see the warning signs...but this place here is therapeutic, it helps you to get a clear mind again, that's why I like it 😀

Here you guys go. This is the guy who is trying to give me the business. The deal was a trade from a Rolex 6605 Datejust from 1957, beautiful patina with matching bracelet, about 4700 value and a 1970 1603 Datejust with a rare blue textured dial, valued at about 3000. I was in the process of getting taken advantage of, he agreed to swap out the dial with an original period dial as part of the deal. Here's the listing, his name is Dave, not sure if any of you know him.

Ok, but its the wrong dial on that '68 anyway 😉 Should have an appliead logo instead of a painted one.

This is why he agreed to replace it with a period correct dial as part of the trade. He tried to pull a fast one

The dial, if it was a correct '64, would fit a cal.861 145.022-68.

I'm lost here, he bought the dial to swap it into the watch he was selling?

He said he would get an original period dial and then we would make the trade.

He probably made up the whole story and it was a dial he had laying around and then tried to pass it on to me (a Speedmaster novice) as an original period 64 dial

I talked him into buying a dial, now that's hilarious. A so called expert trying to scam me out of 2 vintage Rolex for his Speedmaster with a worthless dial.

I've not really been following this thread but I do recognise his user name. I'm pretty sure he sells a reasonable amount of watches and parts.

Never dealt with him though so no idea on the legitimacy of his stock, or his selling practises.
