Is this an early 64 Speedmaster Professional dial?

He really needs advice, he had enough clowns over at facebook! 😀
This is advice, in my view some of the lume is beyond normal "swelling" and has been replaced indicating a problem with the dial. Sorry you were not able to pick up on the nuance.

If the seller of this dial thinks it is original, I would never trust his judgement on speedmasters.

He either does not know what he is talking about or he is trying to deceive.

As @Spacefruit has said to me many times (and I'm sure to lots of other people too), the more of these you see, the better you get at spotting good/bad/ugly.

One look at this, and alarm bells rang... even without the understanding to put together then detailed analysis that William did, it just didn't feel right.

This probably means I've seen too many Speedmasters. 😉

True - it is just exposure, or perhaps the 10,000 hours Malcolm Gladwell talks about.

It is those with a few hours who then make false claims for profit who piss me off.

Worse when they masquerade as dealers.

I think your statement might be better written as "Hmmm... what is he not seeing that we are?" 😉

He sees it all..and a bit more, the profit in this piece of crap. I mean at least it reveals how upright someone is..

Just to add my voice to the ones above (not that it's needed) - totally refinished dial. Looking at the photo on more that a 3 inch screen, the G in OMEGA and particularly the 2's on the seconds and hour registers are clear giveaways. Others have given far more detail.

It was an original singer dial, but no longer.

Is this after you’ve pointed out the flaws to him?

Welcome Steve,
let me add something since we had the conversation that led you here: you should add that the seller offered you to install this supposed '64 dial on a 861 movement if I got you right? Please post a picture of the Dialback as well to see the feet on it.
Since this might have been overlooked. It's not only the quality of the dial but the quality of the deal offered..I see 321 feet.

Can’t imagine how much the asking is if you have to trade a couple of Rolex.

Also notice the minute markers come up onto the step, particularly around the six o'clock area. The longer you look at that dial the worse it gets.

It was part of the deal to replace the dial in a 68 Speedy, not the dial alone.
