Hi all,
New member here. I got this from my wife for Xmas. I found it in her eBay history so I know how much she paid for it. 460$
I know the movement 1012, I think it’s a Geneve but no name on the dial. (ref. 166.0163)
Also I don’t see any minute marks around then dial. Maybe this is a redial?
I haven’t been into watches in years and now I’m getting excited about them again. What do you think of this thing? By the way it looks great to me.
Thanks for any info you can share.

Looks to be a redial unfortunately. Probably started out looking something like this. Looks like someone painted over the indices at some point and the hands also aren't original. Since you like it that's all that matters seeing as it was a gift 👍

I’m not sure it is a redial. The font is correct so I think more likely the dial was washed to clean it which ended up removing the minute markers.

There’s does however appear to be paint on the side of some of the markers which suggests it could have been repainted.

The watch overall isn’t in the best condition and could certainly do with a clean and service so I wouldn’t expect the dial to look so clean when the movement looks so dirty.

Can you post some better pictures of the dial so we can try to confirm?

100% redial.
Agree the dial looks refinished, but pretty well if it is -
And also a present offered lovingly so it’s 100% correct.

I've got an original one from the late 60s it looks very different to mine.

The automatic text font would be correct on certain 70s Connies but not to my knowledge on that. I’m fairly sure it’s a redial.

Actually you’re right, it’s the 70’s Constellations I was thinking of that have that font.

It’s kinda irrelevant whether it’s been redialed or just cleaned as either way it’s not in good condition and has little collector value. Obviously this will have little
Impact given it was a lovely gift from your wife

Maybe just me but... if it's a gift and you like it, why bother diminishing your enjoyment by seeking out flaws that aren't apparent to you?
Wear the old thing and enjoy it! 😀
