Is this a good deal?

Hey Omegaforum.
Im very new to this whole vintage watch theme but I really wanted to get one! I saw this old Omega Geneve on Chrono24 for 495€ and wondered if it is a legit and good deal. The reference number is 135.070. It was made in 1970 and has 17 jewels and the caliber is 601. The watch comes from a certified dealer based in Germany. It doesn’t have original papers or box. I would be very glad if anyone could tell me wether or not I should buy. Thanks a lot 😀

It's not a bargain, but 500 isn't a crazy price for a 135.070. My problem is the condition of the dial, those scratches definitely make it less desirable. Also, judging by the filth inside the caseback, you should budget several hundred for a service.

It looks like water has entered through the crown seal and damaged the dial close to the crown - some of the minute ticks are missing. One of the case clamps is rotated so not doing anything and I bet there is rust in the keyless works - the whole watch looks neglected.

It's a very poor watch and not something that you would probably be happy with after wearing it for a while.

Tanks a lot for the reply! What would suggest is a good price. I don’t really care about the model a lot I just want it to look kind of like that one. What would you say is the cheapest Omega that looks like this and what is the price?

It would be a hard pass regardless of price on this one. Not anything special, plenty of better ones out there.

that model is one of the least expensive IMO

Welcome to the forum, if you go on Ebay and do a search for sold items « Omega Geneve » it should give you a good idea of’prices. I see you just joined and you seem to be antsy- I would suggest slowing down and learning a bit about what you’re about to do, otherwise you might get fleeced. Setting yourself a limit of $500 is very good idea, but you certainly should not pay that for a watch that’s not worth it.

Ditto everyone else on this thread. This is a very common entry-level watch and there are a great many of them out there in much better condition, without the stained dial, for less money. The ones I see in Japan often have charming inscriptions on the back commemorating someone’s service at their company. No reason to overpay for one.
