    Hi,

I’m new to collecting and came upon this vintage seamaster. I like it but I’m wondering if this is a Frankenstein watch, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just a bad redial I'd say.

Thank you for the help and the link! I’ll pass on purchasing. Any advice from you both for a new collector would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks again, Cam

The best advice is to look at lots of photos. When you look back at this watch and laugh, you'll know you're making progress. :)

I am 6 months into watch collecting, and recommend that other newbies read all the top threads (learn to fish, posting guides etc etc). I have developed an interest in acquiring a Longines watch, and am currently reading the ENTIRE Longines forum from 1st post to present. You won’t find a better free education anywhere else (with gratitude to the forum members!)

    Enjoy the journey!!

So maybe I should pass on this one as well?

The Dynamic looks legit at first glance, although I'm definitely not an expert in that model, and better photos are needed.

Definitely need higher resolution photos. I know the white racing dial is commonly counterfeited, so I would check out the Dynamic article on Desmond's Constellation blog before putting down any money.

These are all I have, the back says tool 107 on it. I haven’t seen the movement and I know the serial numbers are on the backside of the case for these...

You should wait for the experts to chime in on the dial, but it certainly has the overall look of a legit piece with consistent lume color and wear-and-tear. So if you like it, it's worth continuing to do research on it.

Strangely, there seems to be an extra lume dot next to the one o'clock marker. Or maybe that is damage to the dial, in which case it will significantly devalue the watch.

Hey Dan, I just asked the auction house and they confirmed the dot is on the dial. Even though I like the piece I’ll take a pass on this one too. Thanks for spotting it!

I’m in original dial camp, but I think a pass for the dot is valid. Everyone rushes into watches. @Dan S is correct spend some time looking at watches and you’ll start seeing incorrect fonts, dots, etc.

Best of luck finding the right piece!

Not to beat a dead horse, since the OP has already decided not to buy the Dynamic, but I think there is some damage to the dial in two spots. Not an extra lume dot, since the color is more pink instead of yellow when you look closely. Even though they are small spots, they should be reflected in the price.
