Is this a decent 166.010?

The sides of the case are brushed (and vertically which I haven’t seen on an Omega before) and I don’t recall this reference having any brushed surfaces. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong
You're wrong.

My watchmaker showed me the polished, refinished case he did on my 166.010! Looks fabulous! It was all beat to hell and he's a craftsman and not a hack so while it's not perfect, it doesn't need to be. Mine has the same case as the OP's where the sides are curved with a vertical graining. Same crown, he put a new gasket in, woohoo.

Looking forward to him finishing it.

I didn't mean nothin' by it, it seems too humorous to pass up!
Surely you can't be serious-
...and don't call me Shirley.

Congrats. My connie just came back after months at the watchmaker too. A truly beautiful seamaster, mine was also from closer and looked better once I got it in. I'm surprised yours did not run at all though. Regardless, thanks for sharing!

Being able to keep the original crown was a huge bonus for me. The Vertical graining though subtle does make the case really pop.
Mine also has a few character marks, I am ok with that.

I assume you did not send it to Omega in the end?

Closer was a reasonable seller to deal with but whoever tested it beforehand either did not pay attention to it or they just didn't bother checking it. Minutes hands didn't move after being wound up. Likely a Cannon Pinion. My watchmaker said the internals where in excellent shape but it likely hadn't seen a service in 30 years.

Congrats on the Connie. Their is something special about these old timepieces!

After talking with my watchmaker, he thought he could take care of it... and he did!
