My watchmaker showed me the polished, refinished case he did on my 166.010! Looks fabulous! It was all beat to hell and he's a craftsman and not a hack so while it's not perfect, it doesn't need to be. Mine has the same case as the OP's where the sides are curved with a vertical graining. Same crown, he put a new gasket in, woohoo.

Congrats. My connie just came back after months at the watchmaker too. A truly beautiful seamaster, mine was also from closer and looked better once I got it in. I'm surprised yours did not run at all though. Regardless, thanks for sharing!
Being able to keep the original crown was a huge bonus for me. The Vertical graining though subtle does make the case really pop.
Mine also has a few character marks, I am ok with that.
I assume you did not send it to Omega in the end?
