Well i'm glad i asked for some more pictures in daylight and not under lighting conditions. Appears to be a rather large section of corrosion between 5 and 6. Funny how to my eye that wasnt visable in the original pictures.

Full bracelet length would be 22 elements, there seem to be at least 20 left so still a good lenght.(EDIT: Maybe only 19 ???, hard to tell)

Seller has -I think- quite good reputation (its closer... from ebay)

You are in the US? If yes I think you would have to add VAT on the buying price (at least if you were in Europe, don't know the situation in the US)

EDIT: Reviewing it I think there are only 19 elements left so all the three removable links are not present.
Depending on your wrist size it's not unlikely that you might have to source additional elenments to reach the necessary length

Yes it is Closer from Ebay - Actually very nice to deal with and fast in response, Though this particular watch is probably a no go now after recent pictures that where sent.

I am based in the US. 10% Tax on used items if purchased through Ebay

My Wrist size is 7" which is smaller than most i guess.

That was one of mine and was in good condition. Yes, I would say the brushed finish is correct and I looked at other examples before selling that one to be sure.

The dirt on the dial of the first one would put me off.

Not sure about the second one as the dial fonts look a bit different to what I'd expect so, just check.

Cheers, Chris

Thank you Chris for posting your watch back in 2017, I was very late the the party and it was sold hours before i saw your listing but that was enough for me to want a 166010 or 024, They are hard to come buy in decent shape. I use your example of the one of the verry best i have seen,

The 2nd picture i posted of the 166024 was for reference only with the crown, I have no interest in that particular watch.

As you can tell from my most recent picture, this one is not quite to the same standard. The search continues.

Seems more than a reflection, this is not visable on the other pictures. I can't see any kind of corrosion on one of those pcitures.

But if the dial isn't acceptable for you thats an argument

Thanks for the 2nd look. I was using my cell phone to look at the pictures from earlier and i think it creates a different effect when zoooming in vs doing so on the desktop, Almost appears to be a bubbling effect on the bezel vs reflection.

I actually think the dial is fairly clean apart from the darkish mark above the 5.

Searching for safe queens is for the anal and can't possibly be all that much fun.
You're so right, it isn't... {sigh}
The worst part is when you receive something so nice you might spoil it by wearing it. What's the point of that, I hear - and you'd be dead right!

Well that is so true. We have an 1803 president that sat in a drawer on a sugar plantation in Bacolod Philippines for decades as the owner received it as a gift and never wore the thing. I also never dare wear it as it's like from a time warp and the blushing of the gold color by the south pacific tropics is so dramatic I shudder at the prospect of it getting inadvertently polished by my shirt sleeve. It's probably one of the most useless watches we own 馃榿

Just awesome! But out of respect to the excellent 166ers in this thread, I may need to start a separate new one on "useless safe queens" as therapy. Just possible it's been done of course...

Just paid for it this morning. The reason I bought it because of the size 36mm and I don't know why, all watches sent from Closer to me in Canada has no import tax on it.
Hoi.

Good Morning
I wanted to provide a quick update to this thread, I purchased the watch but it wasn't plain sailing. It arrived from Japan quite quickly in better than expected cosmetic condition but unfortunately it did not run and required an immediate trip to a watchmaker, That in itself was a process. along with dealing with the seller on appropriate compensation amount for misrepresentation which took around three weeks, It was then shipped off and took another 55 days until i finally received it back last week from a complete overhaul and service. Its been a long wait since the purchase in early August but i must admit i am very happy to have the Omega home, It really is such a lovely piece, Silky smooth on the wrist and very light. It was worth the wait for me but i would caution anyone considering a overseas purchase like this to take into consideration the potential for the extra wait time and expense before you can enjoy.

A few snaps of the now working 166.010
